'iPad 4' Headed for October Launch with iPad 3 as Interim Upgrade?

Two upgrades could make good marketing sense.

There are those who always want the latest and greatest, they will buy whatever new and improved model comes out, so they will buy the March model with retina.

Then there are those who are more content upgrading once yearly or bi-annually, they will go for any new model closer to Christmas.

Makes perfect sense to me, if you have an upgrade just bring it out now, don't wait to combine all your upgrade advantages into one yearly upgrade.
 
I'm not going to believe this rumor. It reminds me of the iPhone 5 rumor where they said that an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 4S would be announce, but that wasn't true.

Next Week, the iPad 4
Next Next Week, the iPad 5
etc., etc.

The Missing info - Keynote - By Steve Jobs

What "digitals Times" forgot to mention that Steve Jobs is Personally going to introduce the new models. Using one of the 100 pre Recorded Keynotes that Steve created before leaving. The Big surprise will be the new Avatar that uses Animatronics from Disney and new 3D Projection developed by Steve with Pixar, to do the Presentation, that is why Apple has been so adamant in stopping the Chines Steve Dolls.

What will happen? They'll release the iPad 3 (or 2s) (with or without retina screen) in the spring like they have for the last 2 years. In the autumn, they'll update it. With iOS6, not hardware. And there's a reasonable chance it'll have new killer applications, because they update those too.

Agree about planted by competitors - same for MacBook AIR on ARM cpu - how stupid.

I personally have iPad 2 and MacBook AIR 2010 and thinking next machine will be larger MacBook AIR with Ivy Bridge cpu.

But if Apple goes ARM on MacBook AIR, they will loose me as customer forever. I am not sure I planned to get another ARM based iPad

Also, how the hell are they gonna add a retina display to the iPad WITHOUT upgrading the hardware? Does anyone really think the iPad can run a >1080p screen with the current hardware?

Sure it could the iPad 2 could do it, maybe not for games or high level games but the A5 should have no problems running 1080p graphics. Not everything is about cry engine graphics. ;)

If only that would blow so many peoples mind, I for one would love if he actually did do something like that he did so much more just days before it was all over. The man was in love with the company he help make into a world leader. :cool:
 
I seriously doubt that Apple would even consider updating the iPad twice in a single year. I mean seriously, what's the benefit of even doing that?
 
I wonder why people are so upset about this rumor. Is it because they want the iPad 3 but suddenly can't justify buying it if the iPad 4 is to come out same year?
 
We´ll spread these news every year now. At some point there will be two new iPads in one year for some reason and we´ll feel right!
 
now the 3rd gen iPad is launched, a slightly modest upgrade (just IMO), does that old rumor seems to have some grounds? the new iPhone in the summer and the next iPad in October?
