Twice as fast seems an exaggeration. The A5x (iPad 3) and the A6x (iPad4) have the same clock speed. More GPU cores add a boost but that statement seems like marketing speak.

Let's see independent benchmarks under actual use not in lab conditions.

If the a6x is based on the current a6 then it'll vary it's clock speed depending on load and as above from current a6 benchmarks it's very quick!!

I am really hoping that there is a jump to 2gb, but I am pretty positive that it will stay at 1, sadly. But more ram means less refreshing of my browser windows, which used to be SO frustrating, and more apps held in memory, allowing them to resume right where they left off.

The jump from the iPad 2 to the iPhone 5 is nice, but as I don't push the iPhone 5 to the limits as far as open apps goes, I won't know until the iPad 4 gets here.

I'm so, so, so, so glad I waited to upgrade. I simply couldn't justify the jump in March when the only difference was the screen. Here, they're going to provide me a device that will keep me for at LEAST 2-2.5 years. I don't need a widescreen display on my tablet, which I'm sure will be the next step, looking at the iPhone screen, and having the retina display is everything I need for my photo editing.

I. Can't. Wait.

On topic, here's hoping for 2 gigs of ram :)
