+1 for Retina Display... If the Mini came out with retina display, I would of gladly sold my iPad 3 and bought that.

To be true the Mini is very close the the retina quality because Apple packed 1024-768 pixels inside a 7.9 inch screen. But I will buy iPad Mini 2 because it will have more resolution, will be slimmer and with better processor.

No, at 163 ppi, the mini is waaaay below retina. I'm getting a mini, but I'm just saying.

I wish they'd start 32g at base model but I dont think they will. I also want longer battery life and lighter. The 3 is heavy.

As a teacher who sometimes walks around class with an ipad3 in hand for hours at a time, I personally do not find it heavy, at least not enough to make my hands cramped or tired or uncomfortable.

I don't mind more starting memory only if the price remains the same. My current experience tells me I would be very comfortable with the base 16gb offering for both ipad and iphone (no music/movies/gigantic apps etc).

The size is fine with me, though given the direction of their ipad mini, we may be seeing a reduction of the bezel, which could mean either a larger screen or smaller form factor.

Looking at the iphone, thinner screen, better display, reworked internals, we should definitely be seeing a thinner and lighter ipad.

News of the engineer hiring suggests Apple may finally be ready to transition to quad-core processors for their IOS devices, though the jury is still up as to whether the iphone will get it first (or when the next gen ipad will be released).

Just one thought - Am I the only one who actually preferred the blocky form factor of the 1st ipad? Always felt more solid and substantial in my hands than the current curved design.

My guess is longer battery life, more RAM, and possibly faster processor and the iPad mini design but scaled up.

16:9 for ipad and ipad mini

Thats my guess for the next generation.

16:9 is really only good for watching movies. Other then that it's pointless. Less room for productivity unless they gave it a bigger(longer) screen, which would be awkward to hold. So for those reasons, no 16:9 on iPad.

Ironically, the future of the ipad and ios depends somewhat on the fate of windows and slate. The one that has stood out to me from reviews is how natural it is to swipe to navigate over a laptop screen. If touch is a huge hit in laptops, err, laplets, the dynamics of the tablet market could change. Back to ipad 5--thinner bezel, 10.1" screen, 4:3 aspect ratio, 25% lighter, slightly thinner. Look for some sort ios/osx fusion in 2014.

16:9 is a seriously bad idea on larger tablets when you think it through. It's a silly aspect ratio to have on laptops tbh, way too much vertical scrolling, while width is overcompensated.

As I said...I am getting a iPad Mini 2 whenever it comes out in 2013 cause that will sure shot be retina.

Nothing to do with my point, I was merely pointing out that the mini is nowhere near retina, after you said "To be true the Mini is very close the the retina quality because Apple packed 1024-768 pixels inside a 7.9 inch screen."
