No gloves or eye protection? Holy shiet! I can't believe this guy did this.

On a positive, at least his video hasn't gone viral, would say he has lost money now.

I think the whole bend gate is a bit passé now. The hipsters will need to come up with something else to go viral.

----------

The people who make iPads work their asses off for them, from Cupertino to Shenzen. They get sick, from the stress of designing and manufacturing them on schedule, so we can get them into our greedy little hands when we want them. And they get sick from the chemicals and processes used to make them. And UPS guys get bad backs from hauling millions of them around the planet

A lot of blood, sweat, tears, oil, electricity, gas, etc. goes into every iPad made.

And we destroy them for entertainment? While other people in the country they're made in would literally sell a kidney for one?

But that's ok because money?

This is the mentality that will ultimately seal our planet's fate.

Lolz. Welcome to the world of globalisation / capitalism. It's all about making money, not doing the right thing anymore.

Apple isn't gonna care. They got his money. If he sends it in and pays for a replacement, they'll get his money again. Their markup is enough to still come out ahead.

You know, as long as I got paid, I wouldn't care if they only purchased these things from me to destroy them. In fact, if I could take advantage of the scam, I'd probably skimp a little on the production of the devices if I knew all of them were being purchased for destruction, then I could pad my profits a bit.

I say destroy them if you want to, it's your money. Just ask that you recycle them properly if you're gonna burn through them quickly.

I don't know, I know all publicity is good publicity but in this case I'm not sure Apple wants this kind of thing to continue. While I don't think this will have any effect on iPad sales at all it still keeps "bendgate" in the public eye.

People used to rip phone books apart to prove their strength. Now they bend phones and tablets. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. Maybe a double facepalm is what this deserves.

Though...

I'll admit...

I'd love to see him bend a 1st generation Surface Pro like that.

you should see our Toughpad FZ-X1 .. Google it

There are other guys applying a more reasonable amount of pressure and they couldn't bend it.

One was a more professional reviewer and another video is some guy at his house.

Under every day use it isn't going to bend.

If you need a tablet that can withstand that amount if force then get a Toughpad

5 inch display, 10 foot drop to concrete .. submersible in 5 feet of water, two day battery life, NFC, 802.11AC, bar code reader, imbedded heater ... etc. etc. but I know, wrong thread .. sorry I work for Panasonic - I love my iPad Air 2 by the way - coming from an Air it blows it away. Don't listen to the whiners ... go try one and make your own decision.

These psychos should ******** get a real job for pete sake!

I did'nt know bending was part of any tablet usage

A cheap ploy to make a quick buck on youtube!

350,000 views, and climbing, all having to watch a 10 second advertisement prior to the main event, equates to lots of advertising revenue for this idiot.
And of course comments were disabled!
More than paid for his 16gb wifi ipad air 2!

I can't make out if this is sad because he breaks a perfectly useful product for publicity, or that society is actually composed in a way that makes it possible to do so.

I'm gonna go to an apple store and bend a few ipads!
Just like i've done with the 6plus, i managed to bend 8!

Did anyone notice his screen distorting BEFORE he started bending it?

#distortionwhileholdingitgate

That idiot in the video deserved to get his fingers cut from breaking that glass. Too bad it didn't happen.

I would bet he purchased AppleCare+ since the cellular version is for his own personal use.

Chances are Apple reps don't know or care about this video. I've never spent more than 10 minutes getting a replacement.

So he'll pay $45, get a brand new iPad Air 2 since refurbs aren't yet avail, and then net whatever YouTube earnings he gets less $100 for AppleCare+ and $45 for the incident.

If you only knew what you were talking about, but you don't. It cost $79 for an AppleCare replacement. And Apple states in the AppleCare agreement about the condition of accidental damage. They can tell this was purposely broken and they will not cover it under AppleCare.
