I pre-ordered mine and still haven't gotten it yet. So much for a 'pre'-order...

Never really thought pre-ordering an iPad was worthwhile. I've always been able to go in on launch week and pick one up.

Especially pre-ordering through somewhere other than Apple....lesson learned?

walked into my local bestbuy and picked up a White/Silver iPad air 2 64 gig. used the 50 dollars trade in coupon + 10% movers coupon + 3x reward point coupon. all worked well and stacked.

good luck everyone!

Walked into the store in the afternoon and grabbed air 2 64gb gold by trading my air 32gb using 10% mover's coupon and $50 coupon. Total out of pocket was 193.99. In and out less than 20 min

It's clear that Best buy just wings this stuff when it comes to pre- orders and day 1 launches. Between folks geting an email saying its ready for pick up and then firmly get told they have to wait until release day all the while some folks can just walk into a store and get one a day or two before its supposed to be released to people showing up at a store and promptly getting told they don't have the ipad available that the freaking confirmation email said was reserved for them and ready to pick up......Best Buy plain sucks at this.

Thankfully I was able to get the one I pre ordered this morning after about an hours worth of standing around and searching. I come into the store(with order number in hand) and go to the online pickup counter where I meet a scraggly warlock looking dude who looked like he rolled out of bed 10 minutes ago. He nonchalantly tells me that I need to go to the cellular section because they have all the ipads. Mkay, this is not like anything ive ever experienced doing in store pickups. So I go over there, where there of course is about 5 people waiting for cell phone help. I finally get around to getting helped and they are like ummm OK and proceed to look at a cart full of new ipad air 2's. They don't have the one available on the cart that I ordered. So they call warlock dude over and he gets on the computer and scans my order number and says let me go look in the back.......umm why didnt you do this when i first talked to you half an hour agao.......half an hour later he walks out with my ipad. Seriously, act like you have done this before?

Probably the last time I'm going to do the pre-order thing with best buy. At least when it comes to launch day stuff.

Not sure why the fiasco with Air 2 and fulfilling preorders folks are encountering.

I preordered an iPhone 6, no problem whatsoever with the notification and pickup for the one I ordered. Other folks were picking theirs up as well and granted I was not there long, it seemed everything went smooth with preorders.

Glad to hear this worked as I'm planning on doing the same. Just picked up a USPS Mover's packet at my local post office and luckily it contained a 10% Best Buy coupon. I also have the 3x points coupon and will be trading in my original iPad Air to receive the $250 gift card + $50 coupon. Let's hope I don't have any problems.

Just got an email from Best Buy:

"We're sorry, the item you ordered is taking longer than expected. The new estimated delivery date is November 21, 2014.

If that's okay with you, and you accept the delay and new delivery estimate, you don't have to do anything. Once your order has shipped, we'll send you the tracking information.

To keep track of your order visit BestBuy.com/OrderStatus.

Once again, we are sorry for the delay. Thanks for your patience."

UM WHAT? NOVEMBER 21ST? What the hell was the point of PRE ORDERING?

They obviously just don't care. Wow.

My local Best Buy has…

Silver: 16, 64, 128
Gold: 16, 64, 128
Space Gray: 16, 64

I'll let you guess which one I wanted.

What is even more aggravating is that I called right before leaving for the store and they had it in stock. Unless the guy on the phone didn't know what he was talking about. Probably not. They had about 8-10 of each model except the 128GB—of those they had a couple in silver and one in gold. They were locked up in a cage near the customer service desk. The guy tried to get me to go for another color. He said he liked gold. Gross. If I'm going to roll with this thing for multiple years then I'm going to get a color and capacity that I want. Sometimes I can be impatient but I'm not THAT impatient. Not like my uncle who got a 64GB 6 Plus just because they ran out of the 128GB. Honestly I put it in a case—I just don't want a blaring white bezel. iOS already has enough white.

Best Buy reps are NOTORIOUS for reading off what their system tells them about stock levels. You need to tell them to eyes-on whatever you're looking for. e.g. my store's systems tells reps they have 3x 64GB Space Grey units, but they sold them hours ago.

Just got a notification that it has been shipped and will be delivered on monday. Not much a pre-order when I could have walked into the store and picked it up today. Best buy sucks!

We're getting screwed over by Apple for not releasing their new iPhones and iPads to other retailers in a timely fashion. I remembered in one of the Apple's keynotes from early this year Tim Cook had said that over 80% of iPhones were not sold in their Apple stores. Tim Cook hinted he wanted to boost sales at Apple retail for iPhones. Well, I've noticed not just the iPhones, but the new iPads are in such limited inventory today. The nearest Apply store has all models of iPads. The nearby Best Buy store had only 16GB iPad Air 2 Wifi in silver model. I would like Best Buy to get these models in soon because I've wanted to take advantage of their trade in promotion that ends 11/15/14.

The representative I worked with was under the impression that there were only two colors for iPads: silver and gold. I had to persuade her to keep looking in her system to verify that there were, in fact, three colors.

I'd fault Apple more than the Best Buy employees for that, though. Just about all of us here are technology enthusiasts with an eye out for Apple products, so the color offerings are very apparent to us. This is the first year that the iPads received three colors, and even among the three colors, the backs of the "space grey" and "silver" models aren't radically different (not as different as when it used to be "slate" and "silver" or "black" and "white"). People probably see the "space grey" and assume it's "silver."

Maybe I'm just being the devil's advocate here, but I certainly wouldn't mind it if Apple made the black-face model a bit darker on the back, too.

Just throwing this out there, but I think a gold back with a black face would look nice, too :D

I would agree but the closest Apple Store is in soho Manhattan and I'm in Brooklyn so that's $5.00 I can save for them shipping it to me . It was also raining out so I didn't get wet :)

I shop frequently at bestbuy and never had this issue . They are also quite helpful as well

After reading this thread last night around 7, I checked the stock online at our bb and then headed down. The two employees I encountered acted confused and said the new iPads weren't out yet. I said, yes they are and it says online you have them in stock. She messed around on her computer for about 5 minutes checking, then walked 10 feet to a cage that had loads of new iPads, lol. I traded in my iPad air and non retina iPad mini, got $512 for them and it printed off a $50 coupon. Out the door, $83.36 for the wifi 64gb, silver. :D
