Great news! The first question is answered:
Ipad mini 4 has 2gb ram!!!:)
Three question remaining:
1) Has it the same sound vibration as ipad air 2?
2) Is the quality of the new full-laminated display on par with ipad air 2's one?
3) Is its battery capable to last same time that mini 2 with increased performance and much less weight and thickness?
About performance comparison, obviusly iPad air 2 has better numbers (only in memory bar, in other it's on par with ipad air 2, and much better than mini 2), but in real life, these 2gb ram is the key update for us. We have finally the (perfect) ipad mini!

Yay! Ram! That almost seals the deal for the mini 4 for me, thouh i still want to see some reviews for how the screen and battery ate

If you're even slightly questioning whether the Minis screen is too small, you should get the Air. I loved my rMini when I had it, but I felt constricted by the screen size and had to upgrade to the Air. I will never go back to the Mini.

I've never thought of it as an "or".... It's always been an "and" for me. The iPad mini 2 was on par with the iPad Air when they launched at the same time, except for the color gamut issue which wasn't really a factor for me.

I'll still get both (well... No iPad Air 3 yet...), but I'm a little annoyed at why Apple couldn't stuff an A8X into a mini's chassis after a year.

I found that the 6+ can't compare to my Mini for web viewing. The aspect ratio on the Mini is the deciding factor.

Once the Mini 4 is (hopefully) confirmed to have 2GB or RAM I'll be picking up a 64GB cellular version.

My iPad Air 2 (same specs) is currently on Craigslist -- just too big and awkward for my personal usage needs.

this is what I've realised - the Air is big enough to allow typing comfortably in landscape but it is actually too big and heavy to be held in one hand comfortably without fatigue quite soon. In terms of a book or magazine the extra lightness of the mini is major and it has a sharper display too

I also find that I can type really well on the iPad Mini in portrait mode -- similar to a phablet in that I can reach all keys comfortably, the process is familiar, and the keys are bigger than on the iPhone whereas my fat thumbs play against me.

The only issue left to see on iPad Mini 4 is split view mode.... if fonts are readable then its an instant purchase for me.... if the experience is gimmicky then i will go for Air 2.

Ordered a mini 4 128GB cellular this morning now that 2GB RAM has been confirmed. Only thing is a 5 weeks delivery wait from where I've ordered from (but a year's interest free credit option with nothing to pay for 12 months!)

I'm going to wait until it arrives to decide whether I'll keep my 64GB cellular iPad Air 2 as well, will probably sell it. I prefer to size of the Air for reading websites, but as mentioned above it's just to cumbersome to hold 1 handed comfortably for longs period.

Tried both Mini and Air in stores.

Mini:
- very convenient to hold using one hand. Balancing is easy.
- thumb typing is easy whether merged or splitted keyboard.
- Viewing experience is good. If you just used an Air, probably need a moment to adapt your eyes. It will feel cramped if you just came from using iPad Air. Otherwise, everything is read-able just fine.
- Easier control for gaming since Mini has lesser estate thus it is easier for my thumbs & fingers to reach around the screen

Air:
- Easier to view due to larger display.
- I can balance it using 1 hand but it is not as easy as a Mini.
- Split-screen is easier to read.
- Office apps are easier to use.
- Harder control for gaming since bigger screen estate but it is easier for the eye (esp. if your game requires you to see tiny numbers & texts)

I have not notice any difference in speed yet between Air & Mini. That is probably because the apps I used do not really utilize Air's power to full use. But then again, I am not sure which apps can use three-core to full use.

As people have said here, portability-wise, iPad Mini wins. But for productivity usage (music-making, office work), it is Air for me. Viewing/Reading experience, I do not feel Mini is very cramped. I'd say Air is just slightly better in this area.

I had the same cumbersome issues with Air 1 and thats why i went to mini 2..... but Air 2 is slimmer and weight less.... it still gets you tired after a while?..... i also hope mini 4 has the same vibrant colors like Air 2 cause mini's retina screen is dark compared to Air.

It's not the weight so much, it's the weight distribution across the larger device that makes it uncomfortable to hold with one hand whilst scrolling, tapping with the other. The mini just feels better (to me anyway). However I do prefer the Air's screen for viewing.

they will be readable because the mini has a higher ppi (326) / sharper display than the air (264)

The vibration is gone!

The screen looks lovely to me. It looks like a screen that has a notably higher pixel density.

Perfect!! could you compare colour of the itunes store app icon on mini 4 screen with the same icon on iphone screen(5,5s or 6/6plus). This is a great way to know if the colour gamut is like ipad air 2(ideal color gamut). As cnet has said in its latest video, ipad mini 4 with ios9 is a winner combo!! Mine will arrive to my house today (I hope)

vibration's gone? I expect it to reduce but I don't expect to actually go away.

Probably 2015 iPad Air's vibration is also fixed?

I swapped out my Air 2 last week at the Apple Store due to a screen issue. This replacement has noticeably less vibration although it is still there. Will compare the mini 4 shortly.

Thanks a lot! This is very helpful. Since Mini has much less vibration (probably only normal vibration which happen when people crank up the volume to max), I think it can be used as benchmark.

I had an air 2, gave it to my sister. Got my mini 4 today. It's cool but I'm considering returning it and picking up another air 2. I just miss how snappy the A2 was and that awesome display.
