Unless you are travelling to the UK from another country.

This new Apple SIM seems a great idea for traveling.

I am not sure that there will be much benefit within your home country.

Even within the UK, this should allow you to choose between EE plans at will and natively on the ipad, and of course choose someone else should they get onboard. I think most carriers let you browse their website/app for free, which would probably allow you to renew a plan from the iPad but this should make it easier.

I wish this had rolled out last year though, I'm intrigued but there are no details and no support in Europe yet. Instant Hotspot looks like it'll cover my needs in the UK, but coverage in Europe (Netherlands particularly) might have me get the cellular.

Anyone who's got their cellular already care to post a screenshot of the options you get from EE?

I have just received a dispatch notification with a delivery thankfully to work tomorrow. Its a no brainer what i'd be doing over the weekend:D
Not posting on this forum because you'll be too busy playing with your new toy? :D

For those of you who have called Apple regarding your order, which number have you called?

(Number called 0800 048 0408)
I just called Apple regarding my order still stuck in processing item.
He said I should recieve it tomorrow but not getting my hopes up.
This iPad launch is awful both store staff and online customer service are clueless.

I'm hoping I can use the Apple SIM whilst travelling in countries outside the UK.

Otherwise I will put my Three SIM in there, as they allow roaming to quite a few countries now.

I agree and will be doing the same as you.... either 3 SIM if the country is covered or Apple SIM if it gets adopted in the countries I am travelling in.

Please let me know how did you get on?

OK once I got past the robot trying to understand what I was asking for....

Spoke to a nice lady... Preparing for shipment and payment has been authorised but not taken. Will stay on this until assigned to a courier and dispatched, which could well be this evening or overnight. Some shipments are individual items and some are "on block" which means several or even pallet-loads, which can affect when the system is updated. However there is every indication that I will receive it tomorrow and nothing on the system to indicate otherwise.

I just called Apple....... complete waste of time! Would advise everyone else that there is no point in calling.

Guy was very polite.... and told me it was the 8th call he had received in last few hours asking same question. The point is that they can only see the same information as us. He said that they had been told by supervisors to tell people that as the iPads tend to come from a Uk warehouse, delivery is still possible if they are sent tonight (as they could very well be). They have no further information or knowledge of any delays at present.

So basically, if your order doesn't show as dispatched by time you wake up tomorrow - you won't be getting it!

A night of order status refreshing ahead!!!!

(FYI - my order is for an iPad Air 2 SG 128GB wifi+cellular , and still currently shows as 'Processing')

Really am regretting my choice of colour and memory given that others are seeing movement and mine has not changed since the order was placed. Cannot see how I will get this tomorrow now but will wait with baited breath!

There you are, then. If it's out for delivery, you'll have it today.

You were right, my iPad was delivered about an hour ago, i'm currently at university and luckily it was my mothers day off work, so she took delivery, i will be having a look when i get home in a couple of hours :D i have to say Apple seem to have been on the ball with the iPad deliveries, my iPhone 6 Plus took almost a month to arrive, and only did so yesterday.

0845 600 1683 It's one of those weird automated voices you speak to but at some point they say 'what would you like to do next' and I said 'speak to someone' and they put me thru!

128GB SG Cellular just changed to preparing for dispatch at last!

It sort of does, but I'm most likely going to go with EE via Apple SIM anyway, even though I would normally have picked Three. The reason being, if it's successful the other carriers will want in.

... and especially 128GB cellular, since they seem to have the longest lead times.

I'm already with EE for my 4G phone contract so if I do get cellular data for the iPad it will likely be through them as well. That said if another carrier provides a better deal then I might go with them.

now have a tracking number and thank god UPS rather than TNT, due to be delivered tomorrow.
