That's what I've done. The fit is obviously looser but holds fine in the corners where it matters. The iPad is also recessed in the case as well but this isn't a problem.

You won't be able to use the camera though as the holes are in the wrong place, which also makes the volume controls a little awkward to use.

the clamouring around my desk was getting unbearable so had to unbox but the pad stays unpeeled:D

Apple Smart Case in Midnight Blue was delivered by post this morning and i've just had a call to say the delivery is stuck in traffic but will be delivered later this afternoon. Very excited. :)
 
Apple Store at Kingston, Bentall Centre now has Cellular iPad Air 2s in stock. Seem to have all colours and sizes as of about an hour ago. :)

Haven't checked the one near me recently but as of Wednesday they didn't have them in at all.
 
I just called Trafford - they not expecting cellular models until next week. Guess I have no choice then but to wait for my delivery on Monday!

Covent Garden had a good selection as of about 12pm today as well - took my Wifi model back and exchanged it for a 64gb gold 4g.

.....but as usual with Apple products these days, it has a dead pixel. Otherwise fine though but I'm not paying £579 for a device with a dead pixel.

And I'm not going to bother with a replacement. Gave up with the original Air due to the horrible patchy yellow screens and while this one is good in terms of tone, I can't be bothered with the search for a device that should be perfect first time around.

So my Mini R will do me until it gets a proper refresh. Poor show again - but Apple don't care. Would you if you were in their position?

I did the same just now at Meadowhall (128 Gb, space grey). I tethered the iPad with my iPhone and it worked well but I wanted the possibility of using a SIM card (in particular during traveling).
 
:D mine has just been delivered and am restoring from backup, shall be passing my old 64GB iPad 2 down the family line :)

Just to let you all know I am utterly pleased with my Air 2....got a mirror of my old iPad within 20mins, iCloud delivered with absolutely no glitches, all my articles copied over to the letter##

Must admit I struggled a bit with Touch ID as I could not get the whole print in due to long nails#

Mine's got a dead pixel too :( Time to spend £30 getting to London for them to swap it out.

Quality control is terrible had to go and exchange my iPhone 6 plus around 3 times and my iPhone 6 twice.
All my phones I recieved had dead/stuck pixels or dust under the screen.
I'm hoping I don't need to exchange my iPad more than twice.

Yup same here. And I know everyone says Samsung and other manufactures are just as bad and but I've bought lots of gadgets over the years and have only every had dust/pixel issues with Apple products.
