Sooo... me waiting patiently for five months to buy a new refreshed/updated iMac was all for naught??

That's why iPad sales are dropping, they need to have some major iOS productivity features that are iPad air 2 only or people will just continue being content with their old iPad and sales keep dropping and I don't blame them

Seriously, the iPad 2 does everything the iPad air does, how sad is that?

In addition to our iPad Mini, we still constantly use our 3 yr-old iPad 2 at home. And other than slightly slower wifi speeds and a screen that's not as brilliant as current gen, it still works great! No wonder, right?

I'm hoping for a retina iMac, or at least a retina display.

Unlikely this year. Because iMac screens are far larger than iPhone or iPad screens, the cost to Apple upgrading to retina iMac displays will be significantly more. Also if they want to release retina iMacs, Apple will have to suck it up and be more generous with upgraded video cards that are powerful enough to support retina resolutions. I doubt that will happen until at least 2015, maybe later.

I love my iMac too. But I'm realistic about what upgraded models are incoming.

Just wondering they will include NFC in the Air. I suspect not. But who knows there may be other uses for it.

Like vendors being able to use an iPad Air as a POS system and ApplePay receiver?

Please, Applle, do a service to everyone and remove the camera from all iPads.

Leave the front-facing for Facetime. Remove the rear-facing to save non-users from people using iPads as cameras.

Why, in God's name, have SEPERATE EVENTS for spec-bumped versions of the same product?!?
The events are watered down as it is, and now TWO events for something that shouldn't even have one event?!?
This makes me sick to my stomach.

I know that feeling bro...

I doubt there'll be even one event for either - they're looking to just be minor updates, so no point.

Maybe there is another surprise yet. Tim Cook did say new products in new categories , not a new product in a new catagory.

Yawn Yawn Yawn.

God I'm worried this is going to be amazingly dull and boring.

Here is the new iPad Air 2

Same case, Same size and shape, same speaker layout.

We added TouchID the phone had over a year ago, it's a bit faster, camera a little better, but not as good as our phones still and we messed with the screen a bit.

show over :(

I want a new tablet, but afraid the above it all this is going to be :(

I so so so hope I'm wrong.

The iPad Air is pretty much perfect as is. What do you want more than a spec upgrade? You don’t say.

For my needs they could just take the iPad Air, slap 2Gb of RAM and TouchID in it and call it a day. Anything else is just a bonus.

and what are you thinking of? iPad is pretty much perfect as it is, what could Apple add to make you happy, if the expected improvements are not enough?
I think some people will never be satisfied with anything.

Edit:
Cool, didn't even see the post above mine :)

Yep. I wonder what crappy, obnoxious band they'll have playing at the ipad events?

Very likely it will still have 1 gb RAM. The hardware for iPad Air 2 must have got finalised few months ago.

This case, this time i will stick with an A7 Ipad mini retina.
I weighted an Air and i also have a 2 coughing a little but still working,
and the Air seem'd too heavy for me this time, that is the same i decided,
just looking at the pictures for the iphone taking a 5s instead of the 6 which frankly
i don't like, maybe next year when Apple's team will start to unbold
( i know ive is also behind Yosemite buuuut ),i'll give them a chance to sell me a 6s or a 7 .
I must admit i really like the very neat design of the 5s
while i don't buy the 6 and Iwatch ones.

Aside from TouchID and obviously the upgraded internals, do we expect anything else from these?

It hardly seems like a reason to upgrade anymore. Maybe once every 3 or 4 generations. Im curious to see what they'll do with the mini.

I suspect they will announce the iPad Pro, and release date will be 2nd Quarter 2015.

Guys are saying, what could Apple possibly announce that would make the next iPad Air appealing, well, how about this;

  • 256 Gig Storage option
  • Retina HD screen
  • Longer battery life
  • 2 Gigs of Ram
  • A8x Chip 2GHz Processor
  • Touch ID
  • Apple Pay
  • Split Screen Multi Tasking
  • Improved front camera
  • Improved Rear Camear

=
2 x better Graphics
2 x faster performance

This is very realistic. Surely this would be enough to change most people?

The new product would be the iPad Pro,

Upgraded screen sizes does not a new product make. I should probably have specified new product CATEGORIES instead of just new products.

There are certain things Apple would rather present themselves before they have the chance to leak from manufacturing channels or FCC submissions.
