Damn, and I just got my first iPad Mini, the original one with only WiFi ;)

Yeah I knew they would be updated in a few months but I wanted one and it fits my needs, that said I'd love a 4G Air 128Gb!

...in the same way most people may prefer the 4.7-inch iPhone over the 5.5-inch ?

The bigger u go, the more it makes a difference.

The really need to get there naming under control. Go down the route of the Macs. So you would have a 2014 iPad Air like you have a 2014 Macbook Air, a 2013 Macbook Air, a 2012 Macbook Air. Do the same for iPhone too. or are we going to get to iPhone 23 one day?

For those saying the 6+ eliminates need for iPad Mini, you clearly have never had reason for an iPad.

That's true.
Besides, many folks will buy an iPhone 6 and there is a huge difference between a 4.7 and 7.9'' display so iPad Mini has definitely a reason to be.

One area where the iPad NEEDS real improvement - speakers. Something substantial and innovative is needed. Like some quality quad front facing speakers (cleverly integrated/hidden, like only Apple can) ;) in each corner - so you can have loud, clear stereo sound, whatever the orientation and even if you block a pair of speaker with your hands...

Please, Applle, do a service to everyone and remove the camera from all iPads.

Don't speak for everyone, ok!?!

i honestly dont really see how this justifies a keynote

You're complaining there are too many Keynotes? I love them even if they're showing off products I'm not interested in buying. Anyway, here's what's happened for the last 2 years:

Oct 2013:

"iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display, updated MacBook Pro with Retina display and next generation iWork and iLife Apps for OS X and iOS."

Oct 2012:

"iPad mini, fourth generation iPad with Retina display, new iMac, and the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display."

Argh! I hope this isn't true. I'm waiting to buy an iPad Mini, but after I got burned on how quickly the original iPad got abandoned I do NOT want a model that is 11 months old. I want the maximum update potential out of it, so I'm waiting it out. Hopefully not until next year...

What's with all the rumours of the Mini being basically like Apple's unwanted stepchild?

RAM cost

I have been waiting for a new iPad (I had the first one then jumped to my current version 3 one)

One thing that does tick me off is the cost of the RAM in the iPads.

In my iMac I chose to buy RAM from Crucial but obviously you cannot do that with iPads and it hurts my wallet with each price jump.

Current UK prices for 16GB Air - £399 - 64GB version £559. Since when did it cost £160 for 48GB more RAM?!

A quick search from my usual memory card supplier (I'm a photographer) shows that I can get a high speed memory card from a reputable named brand for £15.99 so basically Apple is 10 times more expensive than a small retailer after their markup? (Plus Apple then don't have the cost of a 16GB chip that didn't go in as the difference is actually 48GB)

Come on Apple, I love your products but your RAM prices are a disgrace.

:confused::eek::(

Your point is valid, but it's not RAM (random access memory) your talking about. iPad to this day still has abysmal 1GB RAM, which is the reason for constant browser tab reloading and apps "forgetting" their last state so often.

Does anyone else think that they will drop the 32GB and do 16/64/128 like on the new iPhone?

Thinking of buying one for my Dad as he's still using an iPad 2.

iPad Air 2 is a pretty terrible name, if true

After the iPhone announcement you might think they will go with iPad Air plus, or iPad Air 2, but if they follow the Mac Air model, they will leave the name as iPad Air. We will then refer to it as the late 2014 version.

Heard the same crap before the iPhone launch. The new Air and Mini will launch at the same time because it makes sense.

I'm more interested to see if they announce any new Mac hardware to launch alongside Yosemite.

A8, Touch ID, 2 gigs RAM = Take My Money
A8, Touch ID, 1 gig RAM = Kiss my ass, I'll give you my money in 2015 with the A9, Touch ID, 2 gigs RAM lol

Same here, except for the touch ID. Doesn't matter that much to me. I'll keep using my 2 year old 64gb iPad 4 until Apple releases an iPad with 2 gigs of RAM. My iPad 4 has a perfect bright white screen with no backlight bleed, image retention or dead pixels. 64gb is OKAY for what I need and performance is fine for what I'm using it for. I use it as a secondary stationary monitor/system, so touch ID is not needed, nor is the weight an issue. Still getting 10 hours of battery life out of it and it's in pristine condition. The only thing that really bugs me about it is tab and app reloading, so 2 gigs of RAM is the only thing that can convince me at this point... or... well... maybe an active digitizer pen, but that's not going to happen this year. We would have heard some rumor about it already if that's going to happen.

Quite frankly, the current iPad Air and iPad Mini retina are simply kick ass and they dont need any improvement other than 2gb RAM. Other than that, I see no reason to upgrade from the existing models.

This. It's 2GB+ or bust for me. Nothing else hardware wise would make me want to upgrade this year although I would like to see them up the screen quality like they have done with the iPhone 6.

For those saying the 6+ eliminates need for iPad Mini, you clearly have never had reason for an iPad.

no, i'd say the i6+ eliminates the need for an iPad mini for a good number of people (not all, of course). many will probably stick with the 9" iPad for the screen real estate. that's the trade-off, and against my pre-release-opinion of the 6+, i could now see myself going this direction. and at one point i thought i'd go with the mini. why, when i can make calls on the 6+and have a full sized ipad for music production and other production purposes..? even with different connectivity options coming in iOS8, it's still gonna feel ridiculous making calls on a mini unless you're always connected to a bluetooth headset or something.

For me, when it comes to phones, bigger != better

When it comes to iPad... bigger = better

Will wait for the iPad "pro"

It won't.

The 6 Plus may be less successful than the 5c. It is too big for an iPhone and too small for a tablet.

----------

There's a huge difference between an 5.5" and 8". Those who want a tablet won't get an iPhone 6 Plus. That's just a phone. and too big at that. it is only 5.5", shouldn't be that big.

I'm in the camp that the 6+ sales numbers were lower due to supply constraints and consumers unwilling to wait for their new iDevice.

I hope they really add something significant or I just might have to get a Galaxy Tab S.!

I heard that they will be implementing :apple:Pay into the iPad to be used as a POS device for small businesses

Oh that is clever. I see many newer small but hip stores using iPads as their check out device. This will add to it. And man think how overpowered an iPad Air 2 will be if used primarily to ring up orders in a store.
