I think its coming to the iPad as well, but first to get it will be the Air and maybe later the mini.

Im thinking next year.

Not a chance...first will come to the iPhone and 1 year later maybe to iPads. iPhone has priority in Apple management

I thought you said that will be in the Air first and next year on mini

Yeah, the mini will get it a year later the Air.

While the inclusion of the sapphire on the Air will happen next year on the Air maybe.

This is what i meant sorry for the confusion :)

No problem mate :D I really hope they will start from this year to put sapphire in the iphones and iwatches and next year into the iPads

if you already have an Air why would you buy another Air?
until now i thought only the difference will be the new A8 chip and TouchId
but with slimmer and probably lighter profile i think i will exchange my Air with Air 2

And yes if my Air had TouchId already probably i would stick with it for another 1-2 years

Zero chance they make it slimmer or lighter, they JUST revamped the design, give it a couple years

What I want to see (and will get me to upgrade from my current iPad Air) is upping the ram to 2 gigs. I don't think it'll happen in the Air2 though.

Same story here. Unless the RAM is increased, there reallly isn't a reason for Air owners to upgrade. I doubt the A8 chip will be much different performance wise unless the RAM also increases.

For a slimmer there are chances big enough. Every ipad has it's own thickness. And until now they don't use in-cell display, and rumors are saying that ipads are going in that direction this year, so maybe a 7.2mm should happen

Yeah, it should have been on the 1st Air, just like retina should have been on the mini. They leave it off to whet the appetite and ensure that at least some people upgrade the following year. I remember the mini being released and it was $329, when I think a lot of people expected it to be sub-$300. But the next year the retina is released and priced at $399 and the 1st gen drops to $299, which I bet was the plan all along. I laughed when Phil Schiller introduced the retina mini and claimed that they 'had listened to customers when they wanted retina'.

TBH, I might get a refurbished Air 1st gen, or one off eBay, when the 2nd gen is released. Much cheaper :)

Get the apple referbished, cause u can get AppleCare that way. The device cost too much not to have that protection.

I'm currently using an iPad 3 bought at launch, so despite the occasional lag I get, its still really a great machine, however I think I'll upgrade to the Air 2 this year. Personally I think Apple will shock us this year and put 2GB of ram in the Air 2:D
