I will buy Air 2 to replace my iPad Air if and only if they up the RAM. The Safari webpage reloads have irritated me to no end. I don't know if it will completely solve the problem but it couldn't hurt and this has really been an aggravation with my Air. I would have returned it but I had already given my husband my iPad 3 which he refused to re gift back to me.
Same here the thing is I'm taking that gamble already and my Air is on eBay. If it turns out it doesn't have 2GB of RAM I'll probably just wait until next year for it. I will miss my iPad but what the hell just got my iPhone 6 so I'll be fine.

Isn't this exactly what people said about the new iPhones? And then they sold in record numbers anyway. Most people don't even know or care how much RAM is in their devices.
As long as my devices run fluidly and I have no issues I could not care any less about the specs. I know the specs. and I know the "competitors" specs, I just don't care. My iPhones, I've had every one since the original except for the 5S and my iPads, every one except iPad 4, including both minis run perfectly for my usage patterns. I know some here have different needs and have had problems with the current specs, just not me. I'd be glad if the next iteration had more RAM for them but I've never needed any more.

I want the Air 2 to get 2GB of RAM but that would really piss off iPhone 6/6+ customers....and really make you go "WTF" at Apple's controversial decision to not upgrade the RAM in 3 years of device launches.

Apple definitely need to add 2GB of RAM to the next iPad Air and rMini.

I appreciate there are a lot of bugs that need fixing in iOS 8 but performance on my rMini can be shocking sometimes.

If it were four years old I could understand lags etc but the fact I've not even owned it a year it's somewhat concerning!

No change

More than likely, there will be 1GB RAM. The upcoming Ipad Air 2 will run fluidly with IOS8. The real issue is how it will run under IOS9 or IOS10, etc. My IPAD 3 was magnificent with IOS6; laggy and jerky with IOS7 then a real toilet with IOS8. If you upgrade with every new IOS, then your're cool. But if you keep your pad for a few years, expect less than spectacular results. 2GB RAM may alleviate obsolescence somewhat, but that is not good for business.

As an iPhone 6+ owner it wouldn't bother me at all. My 6+ runs great with the current specs. I hope the new Air gets 2GB.

If it has a higher resolution retina+ screen. Will it be an underpowered iPad 3 all over again? Or was the a5x chip just crap?

Anyway I won't be upgrading until it has 2gb ram and atleast 32gb base model.

Also I use mercury browser and never experienced reloading tabs and it has tons more features that safari.

What if Apple releases it with just 1GB of ram ? I wouldn't believe it and I would be extremely pissed. Practically a 2015 device.

Given that the CPUs used in the full-sized iPad are never the same CPUs used in the contemporary iPhones and iPad minis (which both, as of last year, use the exact same CPU), it's possible that Apple will use a different A8 or A8X chip (depending on how they want to market it, because that naming difference is just marketing) in the iPad Air than they currently have in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Different CPU only means that there could be differences from what we currently have in the known A8 devices which means that 2GB is fair game. Then again, so is 1GB.

The iPad desperately needs more ram, more so than the phones. That said, as I'll likely sit this one out, I wouldn't be too fussed if they stuck with 1gb, keeps older hw relevant for longer.

Can't see it though, with iPad sales not being amazing these days (which I put more down to people being happy with their existing iPads, it's a fairly mature product now, rather than a complete lack of/falling levels of interest), Apple need to do something to stimulate sales. RAM isn't something that sells to the mainstream, but the iPad would be a far more viable* work device if it had 2gb.

*Personally, give me a laptop every single time for such activities
