I am SO excited for the 5se.

I simply can not wait to be back on 4" (but still have Apple Pay) and to me the best news is that the case will essentially be the same as the 5s. I LOVE that design and there are zillions of existing bumpers/cases in the wild from day one.

Wonderful!

Apple is planning to begin selling the upcoming iPad Air 3 and the 4-inch iPhone 5se starting on March 18, reports 9to5Mac. The two devices will be offered in stores and online starting on Friday following their introduction at an event to be held on Tuesday, March 15.
I presume this means the US and possibly some other countries.
Please please please could Apple and sites writing on Apple remember that Apple is a global company which tends to stagger its product launches so that there can be days, weeks or months difference between when they become available.
Fair enough but it would be very nice if Apple and yourselves took a principled approach to reporting with this in mind. Give more information about further releases - put it in a "more information about other country launches here" link if necessary!
After every launch I try in vain to find out information about "my country" - it would be such good marketing to provide that!

I wonder if they will announce anything on Steve Jobs' birthday on 24 Feb? An updated Mac Pro with all new Apple Displays would be a fitting tribute.

why would anyone buy an apple band? I got a 3rd party stainless Milanese loop band in silver and in blue for $17 each. Apple's is what? $140?

to be fair, there is a difference in quality. No matter how small it may be, it does exist. The 3rd party bands do not connect as well (not as flush), and most are of lower quality. For example, the moKo sport bands feel very different IMO, and I ended up trashing the one I bought.

The 4" is going to sell like wildfire. It's the first logical decision Tim has made. 34% of current iPhone users use a 4" device. That's a BIG number. IMO, it is also the reason for the "rumored" 30% scale back in 6s production for Q2. They will pick up that 30% in the 5se. The guidance was lower, as AAPL will not have super margins on the 5se, along with other non iPhone issues.

I agree with those in here who know people looking forward to this. While it would be too small for me, I hear the same comments. It amazes me how many people I know with 5's and 5s'. I even know someone on a 4. Let's also not forget the potential for this as the "kids" first iPhone. The 5se will cut into 6s sales. No question. :apple:

I dunno, "first logical decision Tim has made" seems a bit harsh, no? He's probably the most logistical and calculated person at Apple.

I love the 34% stat. You could also reverse it and say that 2/3rds of active iPhones were 6/+/s purchased in the past 16 months alone. I'd say its pretty amazing that 2/3rds of active iPhones were purchased in the past 16 months.

I do think though it's a nice idea to keep updating the 4" model and have several sizes for people to choose from.

That 2/3 that's not on a 4" phone has people on a 3.5" phone as well (not just 6/6s people).

I know people think that's nuts, but I do actually see a LOT of 4's, 4s's & 3GS's when I'm out and about.

(amazing to me anyone uses them..., but they do indeed!)

The updated 4" phone could see a lot of uptake from people on very old 3.5" devices or still on 4" devices (5/5s)....and then there's those of us DYING to go *back* to the 4" phone (just been waiting for an updated model).

I'm thrilled!

Glad you agree on the 4" choice. I don't feel I'm being harsh in Tim. He is most likely one of the greatest COO's in history. He is no CEO, or visionary. Apple's increasing entries in the Debt Markets should concern any shareholder. His "Stock Buy Back Plan" has done nothing for Apple. His decision th move forward with the AW has done nothing for Apple. Turning Eddy loose and approving the Beats Deal has done nothing for Apple. His lack of oversight with Apple Music and iTunes Bloatware and horrid interfaces has done nothing for Apple. He is too hands off. As CEO you need to do more than dwell on your "Typical 5-7 week inventory."

If I saw innovation I'd "Think Different." :apple:

I agree in a sense about Tim being more a COO than a CEO. They have an interesting group of people at the top, that seem to assemble into an excellent team, but I don't think you'll ever find a visionary like Steve to replace him as the leader. Also have to remember, Steve put Tim as CEO after knowing him for more than a decade.

Still, I think you're being overly harsh. All the things you claim that has "done nothing for apple" don't hold much weight. You truly can't see inside the operations and appreciate the significance of everything that is happening.

I see enough. :apple:

I don't care if they call it the 5se or the 6C ... I can't wait to get my hands on a new 4" iPhone. I bought an iPhone 6 and about 6 months later I traded it with my daughter for her 5S because, in my opinion, the 6 is too large. I had to replace the battery on the 5S shortly afterwards and now the flash doesn't work. Hoping for a March 18 upgrade!
