Ill keep it out of the case while at home, but when I go out on a job I'll carry it in my dodocase folio air. It just looks beautiful and I've been very happy with my dodocase for the ipad 3 in the past, getting looks and compliments everywhere I opened it up :)

naked with matte BSE on the back (hopefully arrives tomorrow), SGP screen protector and smart cover

Do they still have the problem with the black tabs coming off in the corners?

Im a fan of velcro- on the fridge, by my bed, on the elliptical, etc so i need a back cover. I usually get a cheap back cover and a smart cover.

These things are more fragile then the previous generation? I knew they were lighter but so's the iphone 5 from the 4 and theyre actually more durable.

From the drop test? You meant those pointless idiotic link bait videos of some d-bag dropping his iPad 4-5ft flat on concrete?

C'mon. It's not all that realistic a scenario. If you are going to drop your iPad its going to be on an softer indoor flooring surface unless you live in a warehouse -- in which case sure, go get an Otterbox or similar. But then as someone else said why spend $ on the Air. Go by a refurb or closeout 4.

Also, when iPad drop its usually because they are pushed off a sofa or table accidentally which is a significantly short distance to the ground than 4ft. They can handle such drops usually w/o incident -- of course it always depends on what angle & velocity first ground contact is made.

Finally go check out the other drop tests from previous iPads or other tablets. Drop any large mass of glass on cement and it's going to crack at a minimum. It's just plain physics. The Air is no different.

So in house -- keep naked. Out of house, transport it in a sleeve. If you are really that clumsy that you could drop it flat on the ground like the "tests" then buy no fault insurance.

I only had a vinyl print sticker on the back of my iPad 2,3,4 & Mini (wrappz.com) but have now bought a Smart Case for the Air. It dropped/slid from my bag less than a foot onto laminate flooring, landing on its edge and the glass cracked, proper spiderweb (was gutted). I don't make a habit of dropping stuff but it happens, dropped iPads and phones without any issues before but damn this is one fragile bit of kit.

I'm buying an otterbox case the second it comes out. I have too many animals in my house to not protect it. :p

hahaha same idea. Well, not for Otterbox, but I'm getting a full case since it stays at home for the most part. But cats like to rub against things....and make them fall on the floor.

I always use a case for my iPads. Mostly like the case for a better grip and being able to prop it up. I did have a pretty good dent in my original iPad when it was dropped from the grandkids fighting over it. The case protected it some but still got a dent.

naked with BSE matte skin for the back.

I prefer naked but there are times I longed for a stand. Then I found the the Coburns they are a sweet stand for all iPads perfect for the true minimalist. They are worth a look.

Naked + smart cover + Apple Care.

I want to get a sleeve for travelling... Are there any sleeves made specificslly for the Air. All of the ones for old gen ipads have extra room on the sides.

Look into waterfield designs. I have the travel express case. They have several good looking ones. I really enjoy the one I have.

iPad Air - case or naked?

I keep mine naked. That is why I recommends waterfield. They have carrying cases/sleeves that are very functional and protective.

Which one do you have? The slip case?

I had the slip case for my nexus 7 2013 before I sold it. It was a really nice case.

I now have the travel express case. It is a great carrying case. Holds my ipad, keyboard, stylus, iPhone, pens, with plenty room to spare. The impact plastics through the pockets in the express are great. Keeps your items protected. I really like it.

I have the strap. It's a nice addition.

Looks pretty nice. I like the idea of a slip case so I can get it in and out quickly without messing with zippers or velcro. Was your slip case a snug fit? So no danger of the device falling out?

It was very snug. I could old the case upside down, so that the opening was facing the ground, and the tablet would not fall out. I had to shake the case pretty hard to get the tablet to start to come out,

Like a few others here, I find the iPad Air naked uncomfortable to hold: cold aluminum, sharp edges.

I got a SmartCase and it made all the difference. The fit was perfect, and I love the way the leather feels. Imagine if your steering wheel is aluminum with sharp ridges, now cover that with leather.

Sure, this add a little bit of weight, but the case is so light that it is not noticeable to me. The benefit on the other hand is tremendous. I can't imagine a better case.

At first I had an Invellop case but now I rock my iPad Air naked. It's so thin and beautiful. It's my dream of a futuristic device actualized. I had wanted an Otterbox Defender so badly but now I'm opting for a Smart Cover and bluelounge's Kicks. Ultimate minimalist protection plus I have a Amazon Basics neoprene carrying case for when I'm commuting back and forth to work.

I have a Poetic Slimline case (6oz), but here's the funny thing. Since buying my Air, it's usually not in a case when I go out. I've kept it naked to show people at some recent birthday parties and Thanksgiving. Can't get "WOW!" when it's weighed down. :D I carry my Air in the door panel of my car, and do like to keep it in a case during transit.

I use a dry install screen protector as well. Can't even see it's on there. ;)

Smart case for the adjustable angles.

I don't use a smart case, but the typing angle is the only reason I have mine in a case. If not for that, I'd just stick some rubber feet on the back of it to prevent scratches and call it a day.
