I recommend Drippler to all new users (and anybody else who isn't familiar with it). Lots of informative articles, tips and tricks and apps gone free all regarding the iPad. There's also a version available for the iPhone. I use both daily.

Hello again all sorry for not replying.

I still have not received my iPad, a few days after the purchase i received an email stating it wasn't in stock!, i was furious but i understood that it was Christmas so I'm not surprised. This morning i received an email stating it has been dispatched, so tomorrow i should get a knock on the door!, his or her knuckles won't make it to the door because ill be peeking through the letter box ready to pounce haha.

I have already setup iTunes and created an account ready to get downloading, thank you everyone for all your help with tips etc, ill be back to tell you how im getting on.

I used to be an android tablet guy. I miss the convenience of USB, file tree and micro sd but aside from that, the ipad air is the best tablet out there. Best aspect ratio, best load times, best build quality, best support, best apps, best accessories, best overall tablet experience.

Received and let me tell you, i have never held such a thing in all my life and now i understand why people rave about Apple products.

I switched it on and i actually said WOW, i looked behind me in case anyone heard me (i didn't want to sound silly ;)) the screen is just way over the top, i have only had it 30 minutes so ill be back to share more with you lovely people.

Oh could someone tell me why Siri has turned into a British man? don't get me wrong i am very open minded but it was like a slap in the face when i asked for the weather :D, not sure how to change it yet but ill manage some how.

I only got the 16GB which will do me perfectly and plus i couldn't really afford a higher one, with it being my first its perfect.

Very very very happy with it so far.

(sorry about the grammar)

:apple:

Oh and also!, i got a lovely case with it, i must of ordered the bundle because i don't recall ordering it, it came with some screen covers thingies and an incar charger, i don't drive but still!

You can change Siri in Settings - General - Siri. If you use the US English language and choose Female for Voice Gender. Still works great whether you are American or not.

Wifi issue.

Got a problem which is the same problem i have had with jelly bean OS in the past.

Wifi connects perfectly but if i do to much such as downloading an app and browse a website while its downloading my router stops working, i can't reconnect, i HAVE to reset the router to get it to connect again only to have it do it again.

I think it could be a router problem, it is pretty old BUT my PS VITA connects to it perfectly with no disconnections, my step mums android device which is running gingerbread (old i know) connects perfectly.

Its a Belkin router, anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

P.S i didn't want to make another thread as this one is still up.

What is the router model?

Belkin F5D7230-4, its very old but it still does the trick, this is the 2nd time its happened to a device, im starting to think modern devices won't work very well with it, but the PS VITA is only 2 years old, can online game without any trouble.

Did some google searches and it turns out quite a few people have had this problem, no solved though.

I really don't want to be going up and down the stairs just to reset the router, i wonder what it could be :/.

P.S thanks for taking to time to reply back.

On a side not, i reset the network settings which didn't do much. Its certainly not the iPad or ios 7 because the exact same thing happened with a device running jelly bean..

Maybe you've answered your own question and should upgrade your router.

I will after christmas, it seems to be only while using the app store when downloading a large file, maybe the router can't handle the amount of data going through it, for now ill just avoid doing certain things.

Thanks all, still loving it :D, each morning the iPad is FREEZING cold! obviously cause of the winter and the heating is off during the night, it must be the aluminium haha.

I put on a carbon fiber skin for that cold reason. The grip is better too. And less likely to scratch the back.

Congrats!

If you're look for a case, I got this after a few recomdations from here and I love it and not badly priced.

I think a screen protector is pointless on an iPad (I don't even use one for my iPhone). Using a case with a cover is good enough and the screen doesn't feel like cheep plastic also then.

I also check your local library, I use Zinio and get unlimited magazines that I want and can hold on to as long as I want. Overdrive is used for the book side of my library and I can take books out and read them like taking an actual book out without driving.

This is all I used my iPad Air for along with web browsing and email. I have used Numbers a few times for some stuff for work, but that's it.

I got a case/cover with it for free, i didn't even ask for one so it was a nice suprise

Im shocked at the battery! got it yesterday and i have just put it on charge now, 7% was left and i'd been using it none stop.

I attempted to put a screen protector on it that came with it, cleaned the screen and applied it BUT it got ruined by 1 little bit of dust or something so i had a bubble, i re done it and it happened again so i gave up!.

Let the battery completely drain once a month to prolong batt life. This is according to apple.

7.1 should help out with the memory and safari crashing from what I read.

Had no errors at all yet! how would i test to see if there is a problem with Safari? just open lots of tabs?.

I am loving Apple Maps, much much smoother than Google Maps which is a bit of a shock.

There is also one thing that is getting quite annoying now, the keyboard seems to be white on some things and grey on other things! is this a bug or is it suppose to be like this?

Thanks

Is not a bug -- the dark keyboard only appears for certain specific things, which I forget what they are, but yeah, it's designed that way.

As for Safari, just keep using normally, you may eventually experience a crash or not, I wouldn't go out of my way to try to trigger one -- it's not your job to debug the thing, just enjoy!

Congrats buddy!! please post some more impressions. It's nice to hear about
someone's 'magical' first experience!! :)

I actually didn't bother with a screen protector on my iPad (I had one installed initially, but tore it away a few days later). The problem was that my screen protector made the screen look grainy, and if you are using a case, the screen will be well-protected anyways.

My advice is to just enjoy exploring it first. Then if you would like to get something done on the iPad, but are not sure how, then come back here and let us know. We would be most happy to help. :)
