My small company owns one of each, both with VZW LTE and iOS 7.1. If you're happy with what you've been using I recommend holding off until the WWDC to see and hear what's announced - it's only about 6 weeks away. The only downside I see for waiting is that the resale value of your iPad 3 will drop a bit, but the iPad Air resale value will drop more when the newer-slimmer-faster gotta-have-it device comes out. The Air 2 will then cause the current Air prices to drop, and I'd pick up one then - when the clearout sales commence. Put. The. Money. Back. In. The. Bank. For now, that is! ;)

I'm happy with both, but will likely sell the iPad 3 in the coming months. I've loaned it to an old friend (it's my company!) and she's thrilled with it while using it for email, surfing, and light gaming - she's elderly and had been using an old Win XP workstation. She's addicted to the iPad 3 now and I may not get it back from her.

And, don't go to NY - come to Oregon. We have direct flights from London, lots of rain, and no sales tax!!! And I'm from Long Island with family and friends in NYC!

iPad Air vs iPad 3

Okay, I've got the itch to upgrade from my 64GB iPad 3. Basically I'd like to know if an upgrade like this yield me a significant performance boost. I'd like to be WOWed by a blazing fast performance boost.

Do I need to wait a while longer, or would the iPad Air be stupid fast compared to my iPad 3? I can't just go to a store and check it out because I'm bed-bound right now.

Give me a clue please.

Thanks.

In one word: Yes.

Much much better speed and performance and on top of that the Air design, which if a big step from the old one.

Id say go for it.

Well you couldn't be more wrong. I have no crashing issues on my iPad Air. So until you use something firsthand don't make blanket statements you have no proof on. Why you're on the iPad forum is certainly no mystery based on your post history. I got your M.O. Must be pretty boring on the other side. ;)

Let me tell you my first hand experience. Even though after iOS 7.1 Safsri no longer crash frequently, but the Safari still refreshes tabs more frequent than iPad mini first gen. and iPad 4

My move from an iPad 2 to an iPad 3 was a major change in oerformance and screen quality. My move from an iPad 3 to an iPad Air was fun because of the change in configuration, but otherwise not enough to justify the purchase, except that I needed a third iPad for my family. For me part of the fun with an iPad is getting the newest technology that I can so I time my purchases for new releases.

I'm part of the group that had the occasional safari crash initially, and too few to notice with 7.1.
