My granddaughter has cerebral palsy and uses an AAC device to speak. She was eligible for a device update, and she insisted on an Apple-based product. Her last two AAC devices were based on the Microsoft Surface, and she couldn't stand them. Like any good Gen Alpha, she loves using the iPad. We were able to install the Tobii Dynavox TD Snap app on it. (I talk more about the app in my post about Apple's 50th anniversary.)
She still needs a device with additional speakers so she can be heard in louder environments. Tobii Dynavox has ones based on the latest iPad models. They rearranged the position of the USB-C connector so it charges the batteries for the iPad and the speakers. It still gets 16 hours of battery life. It uses the Tobii Dynavox TD Snap app she's used to and has customized to her liking. My granddaughter could have chosen a smaller one based on the iPad mini or a larger one based on the iPad Pro. She chose the medium sized one based on the current iPad. It's the size she's familiar with. And to make it more personal, she chose a pink case.
