I just finished the strap.

Not that i attached it - but the actual strap is made! :D

I stuck out everywhere looking for hardware last week. Michaels & Hobby Lobby both said they had reduced the "purse" hardware section a few months prior. What I find funny about that is that our Joann's just reset that section and more than DOUBLED it is size.

I exchanged some d-rings yesterday..... guess what, i need the size i had. The problem is, i don't want to use D rings, i want a slim rectangle - which i can't find anywhere.

I found some clips and d-rings at a quilt shop, but i just can't make the 1" size work for me along with the black plastic. I'll keep them and use them for something else at some point, my oldest is planning a black bag i think so they might work for her (they were cheap too).

So back to joann's for the 2" D rings and then i should be able to attach that to the bag and be good to go. I hope!

Maybe i'll grab myself something for lunch while i'm out....

Either way, here is hoping i have COMPLETED pictures by this afternoon!!

OK. It's on.

I don't like it, but it is on. I have to hand sew some of the parts because my machine just wasn't made to do what i was trying to do with it. I ended up attaching the strap in a different way than i had planned - so it ended up being too long.

oops! So i shortened it in a not so great manner (if i had a slide i could make it adjustable i think - so i might end up doing that) just to get it on while i sort it out.

No pictures yet.... I have to recover! LOL!! I'm probably not going to hand sew today either, so the pictures you get will be the rough look on the strap :)

Overall, i learned tons, and know what I would not do the next time. Plain straight bag with the iPad pocket velcro'd in is me. Or rather, my daughter who wants a bag still.... i'd like to make the next one out of home decor fabric if i can find something she likes. The weight of it will make parts of it easier to work with.

The other thing - no way are those people selling bags for enough money on Etsy. That $189 for the Muzzetto? CHEAP. Worth every penny because that is about what i feel MINE is worth given the time i have into it... :D

BUt hey, it obviously didn't go that bad.... i do want to make myself another one in some fun funky fabric! (which makes me wish i had made the ipad pocket removable - see, i'd only need one to move between bags!) Alas, that will have to wait until post-divorce probably....

I'll be back in a second to add the pictures. I just don't want to lose this post!

PIcs:

I shoved some stuff in it - the charger and keyboard. Some cards.... nothing exciting, but i don't really carry anything exciting either!

And I can't believe i'm posting this picture of myself. UGH. Back to the diet! Someone want to come fix my treadmill so i can start running again? I was 1/2 way thru Couch to 5K when it died :(

But for reference, i'm 5'5" and XYZ number of pounds. My Daughter is 5'1" and about 96#. The strap is wayyyy to long for her. But that is about where it hits me when i have it on my shoulder. I am going to attempt the adjustable thing I think - just will have to order the hardware i guess.
