Assuming Apple introduces multi-tasking in some form in the future, would there be any significant reasons to jailbreak in that case?

While I'm nearly positive Apple would never allow two apps to run side by side on the screen, I do agree that multi-tasking would probably make a considerable dent in jailbreaking interest. Combined with being able to change your wallpaper, that's already 80% of what I jailbreak for.
But let's be real. A majority of us jailbreak for the pirating aspect, I'll admit that I do. I'm a poor college age American, of course if I can get something for free, easily, I'm all over it. So I think what Apple REALLY needs to do to limit the desire to jailbreak is to incorporate the 3 day trial, or even 24 hour trial on apps. Because really I fiddle with an app for a bit, then lose interest, the few that keep my interest I'd be more willing to pay for, especially since apps are dirt cheap.
You should have bought illegal iTunes gift card while they were selling on ioffer.com. $100 iTunes gc for $30![]()
Why? Jailbreak = every app free
Because some of us have morals.
Well you'll be surprised to know I have never used instalus, but unixphone was saying he was broke and that he was buying illegal itunes giftcards for a third the price. So as long as you pay at least 1/3 the price I guess that constitutes morals by your definition?
Paying 1/3 the price is better than not paying for it at all, but it still is not morally correct by my definition.
Buying illegal gift cards is costing Apple money. They still end up having to pay the developers 70% but that is completely out of their pocket. Download it through installous and its not hurting either party (apple or the developers). Granted its not helping either as well but I feel that if you had to pick one, installous is doing less overall damage. I'm not trying to say pirating is morally correct by any means but at least this way youre not hurting anyone.
I did not consider that point of view. However, if you would have normally bought an Application through the App Store legally, then obtaining it illegally would, in fact, hurt Apple and the developer.
Geohot said:The jailbreak is all software based, and is as simple to use as blackra1n. It is completely untethered, works on all current tethered models [iPod touch G2, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch G3], and will probably work on iPad too.
I'd love a JB iPad. I just don't think it's going to happen for quite a while. Some devices have excellent security features....look at the PS3. It's been out for years now and just recently has GeoHot hacked it so that it can run homebrew. To this date, no homebrew for the PS3 is available. Apple has lost a large sum of money to the jailbreak community. I ensure you that they are doing what they can to eliminate jailbreaking altogether.
Forensic recovery of data is one reason.Assuming Apple introduces multi-tasking in some form in the future, would there be any significant reasons to jailbreak in that case?
Yeah, I love to personalize my iPhone with sounds, etc. I'd love to be able to do the same with my iPad as well. I do however disagree with the pirating aspect. I know tons of jailbreakers and none have even thought about pirating apps, myself included. While I'm nearly positive Apple would never allow two apps to run side by side on the screen, I do agree that multi-tasking would probably make a considerable dent in jailbreaking interest. Not necessarily. I HATE the connotation that people think that jailbreak means people want pirated apps. I think we want to customize the interface, use command line, etc. Why? Jailbreak = every app free
