I am getting an iPad mini only because I have a macbook air so there is too much overlap. The mini will be a great companion!

iPad Mini Retina!

I been waiting patiently for the iPad Mini Retina since the original was release. I hope I will not be disappointed on the 22nd!

I've been debating this same question for weeks. I currently have a iPad 3. I'm definitely getting a iPad 5 and giving my wife the 3. Debating whether to also get the Mini 2. I currently use a Kindle Paper white as my main e-reader and think a retina Mini might make a more versatile replacement.

iPad Mini 2 Or iPad 5?

I sold my iPad 3 and 4 in preparation for the 5. I only use my iPad in my house for browsing on the couch and in the bed.
A few months ago I bought a mini for my GF as a gift and absolutely fell in love with the weight and size. It's so much more functional and convenient. I'd love to see a gold mini on the 22nd.
I'll be buying a 16gb wifi 5 and a 32gb 3G+wifi mini...as long as it has retina.

could be either tbh. the mini is a great device and is very light but I could see myself getting swayed by the screen size of the iPad 5.

Retina or not retina I can't see any point of getting mini. That is why I have my iphone for. I think Jobs would never allow it as well as iphone 5C.

iPad Mini with Retina would be perfect for me except for one major caveat - I read all my magazines on my iPad (Next Issue). That alone makes this a no brainer for me - iPad 5 it is, as 8" is just too small for that purpose.

My wife can read on her Kindle HD all night and not be bothered by the LCD screen, while my eyes get tired very fast if I'm using my iPad instead of my Kindle Paperwhite in bed, so it's all relative. If the LCD screen doesn't bother you, then it should be a no-brainer - Mini is definitely more versatile...

There are e-mails proving that Eddie Cue convinced Steve that the Mini form factor was a worthwhile endeavor.

Also, Steve shipped the 3G/S, which is essentially the same thing as the 5C in terms of build.

Let's stop worrying about what Steve would've done.

If the mini 2 has a retina display, I'll buy it. If not, I'll probably wait and see what other 8-inch tablets trickle out over the next year. I would really like a tablet small enough to hold comfortably with one hand on the subway, but I can't rationalize paying $300+ for a screen that's so far behind the curve.

I can tell you from being a huge Apple Fanboi, me personally, go for the iPad mini.

I have had the 1st iPad, iPad 2, iPad 4 and iPad mini.

My favorite hands down is the Mini.. No questions. Only thing that makes me even want to touch my full size iPad 4 is the retina.. If they add a retina to the iPad Mini 2 thats it. I will sell my other iPads. My 11 year son uses the iPad 2 now and he loves it, but when he heard about the new ones coming out next week he asked if he could have my Mini since he knows I want the Mini 2.

I mean its just the small but big factor you know? You can put it in a bag, heck I even put it in my back pocket depending on the jeans I am wearing.. Its a great size for bathroom reading material, lol, and anything else.

I got the iPad mini back in January, but only used it for a couple of months. So, I sold it last month.

While I liked the portability, I just prefer a larger screen for web browsing, Netflix and games.

Bigger screen, faster processor, higher resolution, higher benchmarks (though this doesn't necessarily help or hurt performance)--iPad5.

For me, the iPad is a computer I can pull everywhere and do most stuff with. It isn't as nice as a desktop, but it is convenient and has long battery life (compared to older laptops and iDevices I own/ed). The video looks great, web looks great, it is zippy as can be (hope the next one continues to be fast), and doesn't cause eye strain when using with a BT keyboard.

iPad minis seem too small for me, but for kids it is probably boffo.

I plan to get iPad 5. I had the iPad 1 and 2, then got a 3 but sold it and went back to a cheap used iPad2. To me, the iPad 3 and 4 were not worth the cost over a cheap used iPad 2.

The mini at retail is overpriced IMO retina or not. I got a used one and had it for a while. It's well designed and more portable but I prefer the fuller tablet experience with iPad.

I can see getting a cheap used iPad Mini 1 again just for fun in the future. I will pay new for a 5 but my days are gone with upgrading to the newest every gen. not worth the price anymore. The iPad 2 and maybe the 5 are the best updated iPads.
