I'm guessing no force touch?
Not if this report is accurate. The iPad Air 2 did not have force touch.
I'm guessing no force touch?
I picked up a rMini 2 to give a test run since I was always curious of the size. I really liked the compact size and weight. All these people who say the 6 Plus will replace it for everyone are crazy (but it will for some).
The Air 2 is quite the machine though. Normally I would wait to buy whatever the latest is but I found a resale Air 2 for a good price and jumped on it for my wife. My Air 2 is fantastic .. 3 core CPU + 2GB RAM, I don't see what more APple is going to add to the next one to make it worth while paying full price.
I wonder whether that rumored iPad Pro is the rMB... We are all expecting a iPad in 12inch form. But plenty of reviews state that the rMB is pretty much a iPad. Granted, the rMB lacks a touch screen... But the general census is that it lacks performance.
The Air 2 is not underpowered... It's perfectly optimized for iOS 9, but its simply not a Mac. With the introduction of the rMB and as Apple try to improve on its shortcomings. What will become of the iPad? I mean... If I had to choose between a iPad or rMB, I'll choose the rMB. I think down the line the rMB will be the deciding future of the iPad.
And most people that has a 6 Plus would prefer buying an Air over a Mini. I'm not saying "all," but majority would...
My guess is that there a lot of people with the 6+ and a laptop/MacBook. And no iPad.
And lots (including myself) with a 5S and an iPad Mini.
Perhaps some with a 6 and an iPad Air.
Lots of combinations of sizes, to suit different people and their use of these devices.
I feel that with the upcoming iOS 9 update and the release of split screen view will definitely push the performance of the Air 2, especially if running 2 video related apps side by side.
If you think I am wrong come back to me in half a years time when the newest Air is released and the Air 2 seems "slow"
Are you running the iOS 9 Beta? If not, I'll let you know the split screen on the Air 2 is amazing. There is no lag between the apps and they can be used simultaneously or one at a time while still being side by side. I'm not saying a new Air wouldn't be better, I'm just saying the Air 2 works wonders on iOS 9
Perhaps they will redefine the word mini and make it bigger than the Air 2
You can adjust the text to all kinds of sizes, you know ....
I know, but I found the size uncomfortably small. I could have magnified what was on the screen, but why see less content than on the iPad Air when the iPad Mini wasn't offering me any real benefit. It's a great device and perfect for some, just not me.
For me the iPad mini is a perfect size. Perfect for reading books (after all, it is the size of a book...), webpages, e-mails, etc. Great for gaming. And most importantly, it can be held in one hand while you have a cup of coffee or something in your other hand. It's ideal for lying back and relaxing, which is exactly what an iPad is best for, imo. If I wanted a giant-sized iPad or an iPad Pro, I would probably just go with a laptop or a Surface.

I know that many claim that the rMB is actually the iPad Pro. But just because many people say it doesn't make it make sense.I wonder whether that rumored iPad Pro is the rMB... Thinness and lack of ports are not the distinctive qualities of the iPad. That is the premise that those claiming the rMB is the iPad Pro look at. The touch interface AND mobile OS are the distinctives... both of which are lacking in the rMB.
I don't believe that Apple will produce a truly converged device (a la Surface) until they can create a device that can run both OSX and iOS and fully implement Continuity. Without the keyboard, it runs iOS... with it, OSX.
Until then, I see Apple moving both ends (tablet and notebook) towards that middle. The rMB is the closest to that point from the notebook-side. I expect Apple to produce an iPad this year that moves closer to that middle point from the tablet end.
