The Ipad air 2 has some speaker vibration because it's so thin.

How about the mini 4's speakers. Are they like air 2 or like mini 2.

Frank
There is some speaker vibration on the Mini 4 as well. I also had an Air 2 previously, it didn't bother me then and it doesn't bother me now with the Mini.

Do a search in this forum for "mini" and "vibration." There was a thread on this topic recently, and some individual posts.

Not as loud as the Air 2 - not as much vibration as the Air 2, although there is some vibration that you can feel with the volume turned all the way up. I would say it's no problem, but the Air 2 doesn't bother me, either.

The Mini 4 has more in common with the Air 2 in this than it does the Mini 3. I kept my Mini 3 as I like its form factor for traveling and being in my purse (Felt the Mini 4 is too thin/fragile). The Air 2 is quite a performer and I like using it for video and reading. However, it'll never leave my home unless I'm moving. It feels very flimsy and exhibits screen deformities when held wrong. Just as I love the heavier feel of the 6s to the 6, I'm the same with tablets. I like this iPad Air 2, I just wouldn't be caught taking it where I can't baby it.

The Mini 4 may be thin and light, but I find it feels very sturdy, especially compared to plastic tablets. It goes to work with me every day in my laptop bag, gets used in offices and classrooms, the the only protection I use is a Smart Cover.

I don't know what you're doing to your iPads (using them as steps?), but there is nothing I've ever been able to do with two hands that causes screen deformities on the Air 2. Maybe if I press the heel of my hand down with my full body weight, but not in normal use.

I just returned an ipad air 2 because the vibration from the kabinet when the volume is just over 1/3 was terrible.

Just sold my mini 2, big mistake but now I'm looking for a replacement.

Will go to a store Monday a find a mini 4 and hear for my self. It seems like the mini 4 has the samme vibration as the Air 2 but just munch lower as I can read in this forum.

I'm using it one handed. I'm sure others have noted this too.

I'm hoping my case that's coming on Sunday will help.

I just like the feel of my Mini 3. I'll eventually get used to the thinner form factor but right now I'm not. =)

I'm using this Air 2 to adjust to this...

I bought one on Friday and have to say that so far I'm very impressed. The display is fully as good as the Air/Air 2 and the sound level (volume) is almost as good as the Air 2. The 2GB RAM makes browsing Safari a little nicer. iOS 9.0.2 so far runs nicely on the Mini 4. Here's how pleased I really am: I am toying with the idea of selling my Air 2, which says a lot about how much I'm liking the Mini 4 so far (though it's only been a few days).

I'm going on almost a week with my new Mini 4 and miss my Air 2 less and less. My only problem now is I think I made a mistake getting the 16gb version! I've never used really any storage space on prior iPads. I just now finally joined Amazon Prime and recently switched my TV over to Comcast. I had no idea you could download so many shows and movies through the respective apps to then watch offline wherever. I got mine at Best Buy and returned my 1st Mini due to a dead pixel. Don't want to be that guy and return another one, I may just suck it up and deal w/ only 10gb of usable space. :(

Thanks for the reviews gang, I'm going to buy an Mini 4 tomorrow to replace a Mini 2.

Thought about an Air2, but think the Mini makes more sense for my constant travels.

Who cares...I certainly know the people at Best Buy don't. March into the store, say you don't want a 16GB, and you want a 64GB. You pay ~109 bucks, you're happy. Small price to pay imho.

Thought about it for a bit and couldn't justify keeping the 16gb, I agree. Went in and exchanged for a 64gb no problem. Did my obligatory screen check, bright and uniform white and no dead pixels :) Thanks!

I remember day one when I bought the mini 4 some guy on here said I'd regret selling my iPad Air 1 and changing to mini.

All this time has passed and I love the mini even more and more. I can't see myself going back to the full size iPad.

This mini is a joy to hold. So light, so cute and feels like this is the size a tablet should be.

Not once have I needed a bigger screen.

Anyone that's thinking about downsizing, that's just my thoughts and I hope it helps.

I also prefer the small tablet form factor. The only tablets I've owned to date are the Mini 4, and a 2nd gen Nexus 7. 7-8" is a great size for web surfing, email, social media, document reading, browsing photos, entertainment, and (in a pinch) a camera. Basically, exactly what I use a tablet for.

I'm totally thinking about downsizing also from an Air 1. As I use my air 1 i keep thinking maybe i should stick with the size and get an air 2. But the air 2 is already a year old and may be replaced soon so probably not the wisest time to buy one. I think the mini 4 will be a nice upgrade.

I think the mini size does work great for that stuff. I don't need my tablet to replace my MBA which is why i think my air 1 may be a bit too big for what i really use my iPad for. My main use is as my textbooks for homeschool, so I'm holding it for long periods of time, and i know the mini will be much nicer for this. .65 lbs is much more comfortable to hold than 1 lb.

Wild thought: if you're reading text books on an e-device, consider buying a used Kindle. Battery life is insane and the text is SO much easier to read, in my opinion.

I don't read books on it but magazines are perfect. I mostly use it for surfing and YouTube. It's excellent for holding with one hand. That's why I don't miss my Air - I used to get wrist strain.

I also have a MBA but that's mostly for work use. Mini is the home surfing device. Love it. Maybe my favourite Apple device in 6 years.

I agree and disagree with this. Even with two small tablets I do most of my reading on a dedicated e-reader. The battery can go for weeks between charges, and it's much easier on the eyes. It's much better for reading novels. But for textbook, or anything else with images or figures, a full colour display is better. Also, as you may want to scan and search through it, as well as zoom in and out, the processing power of a tablet makes navigation much smoother.

Excellent point. Thinking back to the cases where there were maps, diagrams or pictures, the Kindle actually works pretty poorly. Cancel that suggestion! :D
