Can’t wait. I have away my 2018 iPad Pro 11
My 2018 11" iPad Pro is still going strong, absolutely no need to upgrade there, but definitely will be picking up this new mini as a companion device of sorts. I find myself often times using the 11" for certain applications wishing it was smaller/lighter and easier to handle, which I'll get in spades with the upcoming mini.

I have the original iPad Air. Since then I have had kids. Those kids have smashed the screen. In form stance I have not replaced the iPad or screen.
but this summer, I, father of two, will be replacing my god damn broken iPad so they can watch cartoons in mini LED glory and without that OH bezel which has to go
That’s why I didn’t let my kids use my devices. They will break them. They have their own kindle fire tablets. They smash the screens and we replace them.

I don't want a big iPhone, I want a small iPad Mini that fits in my pocket

I basically replaced my mini with the 12 Pro Max. I kind of have a hard time seeing how a mini that fits in the pocket would be that much different. Maybe I’m just not using apps that would highlight the differences enough.

That’s called the iPhone at that point.
I’m right there with macar00n. I like really small phones, but at home I want to leave my phone charging and use a bigger secondary device. I have an iPad mini and it’s the best option that exists, but I always wish I could hold it comfortably with one hand and fit in my sweats pocket or my jeans back pocket as I go about my home. Mini is about an inch too wide for that. The ideal secondary device size for me would be the dimensions of the old Nexus 7. An iPhone Max is significantly smaller than that, but the real problem is iPhones are not meant to be secondary devices, so you can’t initiate calls or sms texts from your main iPhone via the secondary iPhone, like you can with an iPad, and it doesn’t fully support other Continuity functions. Otherwise, if it did have full Continuity support, I actually would get an iPhone Max and use it as my secondary device, despite it being smaller and expensive.

But as far as an iPad mini mini, I don’t see Apple actually making such a device in any foreseeable future—because there is probably very low demand as most people like big phones and bigger iPads—also there is the problem of what software it will run since the screen size would be too small to run iPad apps and probably too big to run iPhone apps—plus it would probably have a unique aspect ratio.

I like bezels as i use mine as my main Kindle reader and it's much easier to hold with some bezel area while reading.
Yes there’s something nice about the form factor of the current mini. You need a bit of bezel to hold onto for reading. I don’t hold my iPad Pro 11. It’s usually on my lap or sofa so it doesn’t need any bezel.

I only ask for one thing. The ability for an iPad (any iPad) to support a phone number. I would love to get rid of my phone and use just an apple watch.

It’s a good idea with one serious obstacle. iPads cost downwards of half the price of new iPhones. Customers replacing their phones in bulk would hit revenues pretty hard.

This exactly.
I would gladly use a mini has a phone but I know that’s never going to happen, unless they start charging upwards of $500 more for the option.

I did this for a while a long time ago. Verizon MiFi + iPad.

Just using a phone was a much better experience.

Just buy a case for it and your problem with thin bezels is solved.
That adds unnecessary weight to it. I have Smart Cover on the front and nothing else. When it’s not in use I store it in a slip case. If I’m playing games or holding it for an extended period I will even take off the Smart Cover and use it naked.

I’ve been using a mini running a $10/mo (first ATT, then TMo) plan and skype number as my only phone since it was available, I guess 2012... saving about $12k. It’s just in the last year with industry-wide 2-factor & cellular authorization systems that it’s become practically unusable. MS has neglected skype so badly nothing but plain jane phone calling works. iPad still has the built-in iphone dialer pop up occasionally rather than utilizing skype, because Appke never bothered to fully clean up iPad’s port of iOS from the iPhone. Kind of annoying. I’ll probably just keep using mini 5’s until I retire and ditch all this technology altogether for a nice old fishing boat.
Ah... "The Old Man and the Sea" book/movie comes to mind here....

Guarantee you it will be increased in price. As the iPhone 13 will be as well.

Another highly anticipated product of this year. I’m sure many people are waiting for the iPad mini.

I've been saving up for this next iPad Mini.

Truly, it's one of the best and most portable form factors. The iPad Mini is very under-rated. Way way lighter than any other iPad or subcompact laptop. Small enough to throw in an oversized jacket pocket, a man-bag (e.g. slingbag), or a woman's purse. And yet, the screen is BIG ENOUGH.... bigger than the biggest iPhone screens, so you can read and see pictures clearly without ever needing to squint.

I hope Apple hits a homerun with the Mini 6. I really do.

Apple won’t ever hit a home run with any iPad until the iPadOS is revamped.

Well a mini doesn’t need to be a laptop replacement. The pros need to have pro features but the mini and entry level iPad don’t. They are fine as consumption devices that you can do work on at a pinch.
