I think you are right. Gutted. The side by sides I've seen so far .. I can still see it
I think Andru is seeing what he'd like to see for the purposes of pumping up the new Apple shiny toy
I trust the Verge and Ars on this

With the rumour that the iPad 11 is likely delayed until the end of next year (and I cannot use the Pro models due to eye strain), I'm gonna have to give in to an iPad 10........boo!
Mark Ellis says he "thinks it's been reduced a little bit.....but it doesn't matter".....
iPad Air exists.I think you are right. Gutted.

I find they are too thin. Holding with a normal grip and my fingers pressing on the back show on the digitiser on the front. I don't trust the build quality as internal components are clearly touching the screen.iPad Air exists.
Excellent video critiquing the iPad mini 7 take apart. Suspect the panel is just a better part than what the mini 6 used.As expected, no hardware fix. Not only is the orientation the same, but all chips on the driver board are identical.
If Apple was going to fix it, they would have stated it clearly, not hide behind some ambiguous language.
Repost from my comment last week: If you look at a teardown of iPad mini 6, you’ll see the display controller is attached to the long edge of the display assembly. There is space carved out in the chassis to accommodate it. To rotate the controller would require completely laying out the battery and logic board design again. There was no chance that was going to happen.
