Lots of discussion about whether this online streaming will be available on Windows or just Macs.

The good news is that it will available regardless of the OS you have. As long as you have the latest QuickTime plug-in installed on your browser you should be able to see it.

"In order to follow along via Apple TV, you need a second- or third-generation device with software version 5.0.2 (or later)."

Looks like that is a big fat NO on first-gen Apple TV. I guess I'll watch on my iPad or iPhone or iMac

Is this confirmed?

Does anyone know why Chrome is prompting me to launch iTunes when I click the "updated its site" link in the article? When I mouse over the link, it says it's going to www.apple.com, but if I go there by typing the address in, I don't get the prompt to launch iTunes.

Not saying the good folks at MR are up to no good. . .I just wanted to know why I'm getting the prompt.

EDIT: Looking more closely at the dialog box that pops up, it points to a long itms:// URL that, at the end, references "forums.macrumors.com". Some sort of referral tracking perhaps?

Not sure, but I'm also using Chrome. What I did was I just went to www.apple.com and on the bottom shows a link to the keynote live event.

I'm sure in the past they stopped streaming because of bandwidth getting maxed out, but now with their new data center(s), they can push out tons of feeds... Wouldn't be surprised to find iTunes content slowing down during the event, though.

Streaming just started

My Safari on Mac (Lion) just started streaming the event.

Safari on Windows 7 just redrew the event page with a message saying "Available shortly. Please check back soon."

This appears to be working fine on my Windows 7 PC in Chrome, with Quicktime 7.7.1.

At least, it's telling me that the event will be available shortly, and to check back soon which is a pretty good indication IMO.

Edit - scratch that... I think it just means that the event will be available to watch later given that it hasn't started streaming yet... Damn.

Change the user agent in Chrome to Safari on Ipad and its streaming fine right now on my Windows Machine.
