You're just trying to justify Apple's low standards.
I don't see how you can call Apple's standards "low."
I have an iPad 3 and a Nexus 7. I like both for what they offer, but I would say the Nexus 7 has by far the lower standards of the two... and this is supposed to be the flagship Android tablet.
And this is across the board, Jelly Bean, while improved in many respects, still lacks polish, cohesion and that "we actually thought this through" type feeling. The apps for the Nexus 7 are, for the most part, subpar, in both usability and aesthetics. An example is the CNBC app... everything's seemingly mashed together in portrait and stuff doesn't format properly. Build quality, the Nexus creaks in different ways even though there is no removable battery or SD card slot, some say it's the screen lifting from the body and others say it may just be the plasticky back. And let's not even start with Google's non-existent customer service.
Either way, I know which company is more OK with the lower standards, and that's Google. That's not where they make their money, so it's understandable.
P.S. I really do like the Nexus 7, but without a doubt there are noticeable compromises that you make with the lower price point. I'm sure the iPad mini comes with compromises too (less RAM, lower resolution, higher price than Nexus 7) but I think the idea is to bang out the product where the customer perceives the fewest amount of compromises for a reasonable price.

Can someone explain to me why Apple in their official video of the iPad Mini can say specifically that the iPad Mini can be used with one hand, but also claim that any competitor's screens that are larger than the iPhone 5's cannot be used one handed?
Check out the video on the Apple website. The one that starts with Ive talking. At around the 2 min mark. They say specifically using it with one hand; not just holding it with one hand.
Why is no one else calling them out on this? Can someone explain the disparity of this?
Likely based on general usage patterns of phones vs. tablets. Flipping a page on a book/scrolling on the browser vs. texting on a phone. My friend has a Galaxy Note and to do regular phone functions on that device is impossible one handed, dialing, texting, etc., but flipping through a book is fine.
But I'm sure there are plenty of inconsistencies in Apple marketing. It seems like every computer is "The best Mac we've ever created..."
