Pick up a refurb, then sell it when the Retina comes out. You'll still be able to sell it with the remainder of the 1 year warranty. Might get you a little more money if you advertise that. Something I would look for at least.

iPad mini iPad Mini: To Wait or Not?

I'm waiting. My iPad 1 now can't run quite a few things and is orphaned in software. The Mini has (to my understanding) an iPad 2 CPU, meaning it is more likely to be orphaned soon as well. That's clearly speculation, but that on top of Retina has me waiting. The Nexus 7 is very tempting should they not release one with Retina by November.
I do have a wifi Mini and I love it. But my daughters have pretty well claimed my 2 iPads as their own. So I plan to get a cellular Mini when the next model is released which they will not get their grubby little fingers on.

I'm going to buy a 64gb pad mini next week to get acquainted with it and soon as the retina mini is available I will sell it and get the new one. I'm tired of just waiting and not having any ipad at all. I've seen a 64gb refurb for $480 tax included
