My first iPad was a 64gb 3 and I've just got a 32gb Retina Mini.

I still use the 3 as I like the screen size for certain things but the speed of the Retina Mini is impressive, plus it's lightness is really noticeable the size is good for other things, plus if I had to pick between the two the new Mini wins hands down.

iPad 2 64 -> rMini 32 LTE
Seems like quite a few made a change like this :D Incredibly happy with the smaller size and weight. Cellular data is proving to be a great addition as well since I now can have my iPad with me everywhere I go. Simply put, I'm in love with this thing :p

I got my rMini in the mail today and I'm currently waiting for it to download and set up :D I cannot wait to start properly use it!

Went from a iPad2 16GB that my wife won as a door prize at a conference, to a rMini 64GB for xmas.

Went back and forth looking at the Air and the rMini for a couple days but then realized that the simple fact was i wasn't using my full size ipad much at all after the first 6 months. I was trying to convince myself that i should prefer the larger screen of the Air simply because it's bigger. But the bottom line was i wanted a smaller tablet, and i chose the rMini and haven't looked back. I love this thing. Easily my favorite device since getting my first gen iphone back in '07.

Upgraded from original mini to retina mini, and the original mini was my first iPad. It never occurred to me to buy an iPad before the mini form factor came out, but I become an enthusiastic very quickly after owning one. While I certainly didn't need to upgrade, I use the device primarily for reading, and using the retina display is very pleasant.

I upgraded from the original mini. I had attempted to use a 7" Lenovo tablet before the original mini was available, but it was a major hassle to use and I sold the Lenovo.
The original mini was a fantastic device and it was glued to my hand till the retina version came out. I'd never wanted anything any bigger than 7 inches.
I was going to keep both, but the retina screen was so much better, I had to do something different. I found a guy on CL wanted an even trade for an iPad 3. So I swapped him my original iPad mini and for the first time ever had a larger screen. I used that larger screened iPad at home until recently when I traded up for a used for an iPad Air.
The retina iPad Mini is still my primary iPad. I simply love the smaller size.

I just got an rMini to use along with my iPad Air (fortunately, it's a work expense). Love them both. I like the Air for the bigger screen, but it always stays at home. I really like the mini as an e-reader (everything but PDFs) and a PDA - I'll take it with me around town. If I had to choose, I'd keep the Air. But happily I don't have to face that Solomonic dilemma. And I'm keeping Apple in business.

I went from 3rd gen ipad 32gb wifi to 32gb ipad r mini because the 3rd gen was to heavy and big and it made my hand uncomfortable while holding it with one hand.

I went from an iPad 2 to a retina iPad mini - 32gb 3G on the 2, 64gb 4g on the mini (thanks to £70 PC World cash back the upgrade was worthwhile!).

I had the original iPad and then iPad 2 before I sold both and went without a tablet until the rMini was released.

My previous iPad with the original iPad mini. I truly loved that original tablet but when the rMini came out, I purchased it knowing how great it was going to be. I was completely satisfied with the original mini, and am currently satisfied. I will probably upgrade just for the fun of it, and it will also be a mini when the new ones come out.
I have an iPad Air, and it is a great device, but I like the form factor of the mini much more than the form factor of the Air.

Started with: :apple: iPad 2 wifi 16gb white;
:apple: iPad 3 wifi 32gb white;
:apple: iPad 4 wifi 16gb black;
:apple: iPad mini wifi 16gb black (only used that one for a week, then gave it as a gift to my girlfriend as a birthday present and she is stil rocking that thing like hell);
:apple: iPad mini retina LTE 32gb white (sold after a couple months because I needed money real quick);
Then like a couple months further I missed having an iPad and went with the :apple: iPad Air wifi 32gb space grey which I am currently using.

Actually hoping to sell the air and wait for the iPad Air 2 for Touch ID and hopefully more RAM for iOS 8 multitasking and '****'.
Might purchase a rMini again real soon with LTE for vacation and such.

Well, my wife had/has an iPad2 that I would use once in a while, but finally got my own with the rMini. LOVE IT. Whenever I pick up my wife's iPad2 now (to hand to her, no need to use it myself), it feels like a desktop tower.

I've had every generation of iPads and currently have an Air and rMini. I love the rMini for reading and with LTE and increased portability it goes everywhere with me. When I'm at home however I prefer the bigger screen and those beautiful colors that the increased gamut provides. If I had to give one up, I'd have a hard time choosing but would probably keep the rMini since it's more practicable for my use.

Upgraded from an iPad mini 1st gen because the wifi was weak. The stronger wifi on the iPad mini with retina and better processor sold me. Love it, although I do wish it had more RAM as Safari does crash some. Battery life is also not as great as my old iPad 2, but it's good enough. The size is perfect, the screen is beautiful, and I like iOS 7.

I had an iPad Air but the screen was so pixelated and I could hardly read it. Going to the rMini with it's ultra high PPI screen made all the difference in the world to me. :rolleyes:

Ipad > ipad2 > iPad retina > mini > mini retina

If mini retina 2 has Touch ID then I'll update if it don't I'll skip this next cycle

iPad 4>iPad mini 1st gen>iPad mini retina

My aunt had bought the iPad Air around the time I gave my iPad 4 to my mom, but I ultimately decided that I prefer the smaller form factor of the iPad mini.

iPad 2 WiFi/3G>iPad 3>iPad 3 WiFi/3G>iPad 4 WiFi/3G>iPad rMini WiFi/LTE.

The form factor and sheer portability of the rMini means it probable I won't be upgrading my iPad for the first time ever.
