I'm glad I got the 2. The 1 is a monstrosity in comparison. But if I had gotten the 1 before the 2 existed, I would just keep it till the 3.

Hi All,

Not sure what to buy here. Im not really bothered about the size difference and having a camera on the Ipad2. Is the difference in the processer speeds noticeable?

Do any Ipad1 owners notice any problems running difference app's?
I have both the iPad 1, and 2. I purchased them on the very day they were released. While they are not a bad device I would avoid buying one now at all costs. Why?

Because the new iPad 3 will be a truly exciting, greatly improved model.

Once that is released, and it won't be that long, you will have THE iPad to own. One that will last a very long time, have a brilliant high resolution display which will make those of today look grainy and dull.

There will be no comparison. Apple has learned a lot and I can tell you as a long time Apple customer that the next version is going to be truly fantastic.

So reach for a helping of patience and wait. The money you save will be well worth it.

Weren't most of us saying the same thing when we all waited for the iPad 2 to be released earlier this year? :p

By that logic, you won't ever buy anything because there's always a new one just over the horizon that will blow the old one out of the water. And to be honest, with the slimmer and lighter form factor and the faster processor, the iPad2 is not so easily dismissed - and should hold its value pretty well into the initial sales of the next model, meaning that buying one now isn't a poor economic choice since it can be resold at a significant portion of cost in time to buy an iPad3 when it comes out.

I suspect, as with the iPhone, that iPad development is much more likely to be evolutionary than revolutionary, and that much of the wow-factor when it comes will be more to do with iOS than the hardware.

I have both, and find the differing color casts of the ipad1 and 2 very noticeable. The ipad1 screen runs blue, the ipad 2 is yellowish. I prefer the ipad1's color handling far better than the ipad 2.

I agree. I personally, and suggest to others to buy a used iPad. Then when the iPad 3 comes out you can sell the iPad and get it. The iPad 2 was just a basic upgrade and the iPad 3 is reported to be a vast improvement over the two before it. Just something to think about.

I'm still deciding iPad 1 or 2, I'm close to buying the iPad 2, would be lovely to use at work. It gets boring here. iPhone is very small :(

Prior to its release, the iPad 2 was also reported to be a vast improvement over the iPad 1.

It currently dominates the market and does require much to stay ahead. Apple will insert the minimum required to maintain sales while maximizing profit margins. The only time you would see Apple inject "vast improvements" would be if a competing product was taking first place on the market.

rather if you can wait for sometime may be another 6 months then I suggest you wait for ipad3. Otherwise you can getan ipad 1 till ipad 3 is launched.

I would wait for the iPad 3 that is rumored to be coming in September. It's far from being a sure thing, but it's only 3 months away. There are too many issues with iPad 2 - dust under the screen, light bleed issues, chipped and scratched backs. I would wait.
