Unfortunate they are passing these component increases onto the consumer. Waiting for sales/comparison shopping is the best way to go now.
 
Before drawing a conclusion as to whether or not the price increases were a result of NAND storage prices I'd like to know what other manufacturers have done. It would be odd for Apple to be affected but no one else.

And how much did the price of NAND storage go up on the Apple end? $5, $10, $50?

so glad i bought mine at launch, noticed the price hike by £60 yesterday after the painful keynote🙄
 
One reason for the price increase could be due to an undersupply of NAND flash memory chips, coupled with a surge in orders for the new higher capacity iPhones.
