I want to buy a pro 12.9 sometime in the next year to replace my laptop and iPad mini. I have a desktop for my power user needs. My question is should I go ahead and buy now ($705 Amazon) or wait for the second generation? What do you guys think?

The longer Apple is taking on releasing version 2 the more I’m realizing I don’t really need a 12.9” iPad. To be fair I probably will never need one by the strictest definition, but in trying to convince myself that the current version is good enough I’ve had to really look at what I would use it for and determined it would mostly just be a 2X version of the lazy distraction machine that my current iPad is. I really don’t need my lazy distraction level amplified.
Also I’ve heard many apps still aren’t optimized for the larger screen. I’m thinking that would suck.
What iPad do you use now? The 4GB RAM is a BIG difference, I think. Also, I've read these reports about screen optimization, and but for a few apps that haven't been updated since iOS 5 or so (which Apple is about to cull anyway), this hasn't been an issue for me... and I have 203 apps on mine!
if you can wait until around March...it will be a more polished ipad pro...but nothing else
Buy a used 12.9" off of here or Craigslist. I love my iPad Pro and the prices they are going for now are too good.

This. I'm not a fan of buying used or refurb. Especially if you plan on keeping it a long time. Best Buy's $100-off this weekend is only for the 9.7 Pro, but they or Staples will most likely have a similar deal for the 12.9 by Thanksgiving. To the OP: buy the Pro 12.9" on the next sale. Between now and thanksgiving, it will go on sale.

Beware of anyone claiming that Black Friday will offer deals better than $150 off an iPad Pro. Those claims (about the Pro and the models before it) are made every year and the reality is that those deals don't happen. The ones who held out and passed up deals like the ones at Staples/Best Buy ended up regretting that decision.
it also doesn't have the soft reboot issue
