With the iPhone 7 being announced with the A10 processor tomorrow, one has to figure the iPads will get that processor as well shortly. I wouldn't buy an iPad without the best processor available. You may pay a bit more than if you bought the older version, but you will get half of that cost difference back when you resell the iPad (or you will be handing down a nice machine). So saving what works out to about $100 on a device that should last two years minimum before being resold or handed down does not make sense to me.
