Hi,

I had a very disturbing iPad Pro 12.9" Display "Clicking and Breathing" while touching issue.
Specially while working concentrated, drawing.
After two replacements, I got an okay version (regarding this Clicking and Breathing issue).

But here it comes, now this 2nd replacement version shows me this:

I'm very disappointed with Apple now, more than before, because the first two versions (with Clicking and Breathing) didn't have this. With every replacement I got an worse version of the iPad Pro.

Now the Genius said, "its okay that way, all iPad Pro 12,9 does have this", and sent me away.

Btw. reminds me of a Microsoft Windows Logo branding. :/
Maybe some sign to move over?

Anyway, I was thinking for a few hours about it, and give up, gonna sell it now.
Lesson learned...

Just want to provide an *somewhat* positive update to this display problem.
Few weeks ago i've sold my iPad Pro 12.9 128GB Wifi because of unsolved display issues.

Yesterday i was shopping with my family, and saw an "iPad Pro 12.9 128 Wifi" offer at a third party certified retailer. I've decided to try it out again(with an 14d return period).
Bought it with bad feelings, but with illusion to get an acceptable one(at least with a less prominent issue).
AND ... see yourself... this iPad Pro 12.9" 128GB Wifi is 100% TOP, THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ebqwsblwtdha1ex/Video 08-05-16 15 10 07.mov?dl=0
No issues at all, No display breathing, no display clicking, and also no distortion highlights which was the worst issue.

Means to me, Apple has quality issues with the iPad Pro 12.9" display, with few device exceptions, or an huge amount of bad built iPad Pro 12.9" devices being sold. I've visited two Apple Stores(Genius Bar), and both sent me away saying its normal, because all their Demo iPads 12.9 had the same problem. I've tested them by myself, and they sadly had it, so i couldn't argue agains so much. :/ For the Geniuses it was a normal behaviour.

History:
  • 1st iPad Pro: Ordered from Apple Online Store, had a display clicking noise and breathing, air flow being pushed out of lightning port, on touch: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ipad-pro-display-clicking-and-breathing.1937011/ But no distortions!
I've sent it to Apple, but got it back, with comment: Problem can't be replicated.
  • 2nd iPad Pro: Made an appointment at Apple Store #1 (Genius Bar), exchanged(by goodwill), but also got a version with this breathing and display clicking noise, just worse. But no distortions!
  • Made an appointment at Apple Store #1 (Genius Bar), they sent me away saying its normal.
  • 3rd iPad Pro: Made an appointment at Apple Store #2 (Genius Bar), exchanged(by goodwill), but this version had this background light distortion issue near the lightning port, but no display clicking or breathing.
  • Made an appointment at Apple Store #2 (Genius Bar), they sent me away saying its normal.
  • Called Apple Support, they said its not Apple standard, and should go to Apple Store(Genius Bar). WTF, and I sold the iPad!
  • 4th iPad Pro: Bought new from 3rd party certified retailer
    No issues 100% Top

Downside of the whole story is, i've lost 250-300 Euro because i had to sell my previous iPad Pro 12.9", the issue was unacceptable for me, specially when working concentrated, while drawing.
I've lost a lot of work time, because had to stop working earlier many times to go to Apple Store.

This is clearly an iPad Pro 12.9" build issue, and not an individual case.
Maybe a whole bad batch, I don't know.

Display Issues
Issues mainly at the bottom, near the TouchID, few people notice it, others don't.

Well now i have an new minor issue, but with the Apple Pencil lighting adapter.
The male lighting plug does not stay plugged in the lightning adapter(female) and jumps out.
Well its at least a well replicable issue, i will get a new working one for sure.
But anyway, i will lose time again, by having to stop my work earlier, just to go to the Apple Store.

Apple please FIX your pipeline, you have a lot of quality issues.

Same issue here. I live in Portugal.

I started noticing it every time I played Vainglory, which is a game where you have to press the screen many times at a fast rate. At first I didn't quite hear it. It just felt strange when I tapped the region between the center and the Home button. I knew that something wasn't right. I asked a colleague to try it and he felt the same. Then, yesterday, in a quiet room Instead of just tapping I put my finger against the screen and pressed. There it was: the popping sound :(

Right now, sitting in my living room and writing this, considering all the trouble that I will probably have, I'm thinking if I should bother and call Apple.

Ohhh sorry about that, for me it was unacceptable, specially because I often work concentrated while drawing, and I always noticed it. Once you notice it, you always notice it.

I had no luck in the Apple Store, but and I also don't want to point at their Apple Store Stuff, because they check it agains other Demo Store iPads, and notice the same "problem" everywhere.

Well, I had a few problems:
The clicking noice problem was hard to show to them, because its always very loud in the Apple Store.
They could see the background highlight problem, but for them it was normal, because all demo Store iPads had more or less the same problem.
The airflow noice problem is some kind normal, but just up to a noise level, hard to tell, but mine did sound like a bellow.

Try your luck, and prepare to get frustrated...
But maybe you have more luck than i had.

I just hope this 4th iPad Pro 12.9 never breaks, because...
It has no disturbing air flow noice, no clicking noise, no background light distortions.
It's still 100% great.

I'm still upset that I lost 250-300 Euro by selling the previous unacceptable iPad Pro, but thats life. :/
At the moment I'm looking very skeptical at Apple, and catch me often researching for Windows Stuff.
iOS10 also didn't wow me, regarding "professional" usage, but thats off topic.

Are you sure its 100% ?

Check the white uniformity.

Mine its cold on the left and warm on the right side.

I bet all are more or less like this.

Nope, 100% top, and I'm being very picky. Tim Cook must have been near the factory, when this 4th iPad was built.

Ohhhh :/ this 4th iPad display is sometimes making clicking sound now, below the camera. Maybe because the weather is 27°C now.

I finally solved the display issues.

I just sold that damn thing.

One big reason , the above.

The second reason, "the pro label".

Tried to do some work with it ...

OP, by any chance you got the manufacture dates from the previous ipads and the new one?
