I never use the Touch ID. My devices are always on me or secure. The fingerprint scanner has always been more of a gimmick for me anyways.

Talk about First World Problems. "My fingerprint takes a full second to activate my $1000 tablet instead of just half a second!"
You mean half a second versus a quarter of a second. The 2nd gen sensor is faster, but it's not like the 1st gen sensor sucks so much as to be useless. It's really a very minor difference and one that I don't really care to waste energy lamenting.

Yeah, I was being conservative with my estimates. I have first gen Touch ID and it does indeed take less than a second most of the time. Sure, faster is nice, but anyone who says the first gen is too slow is being unreasonable.

For the same reason the iPad Pro didn't get 3D Touch. Exclusive to the iPhone until a year has passed.

I just purchased an iPhone 6s, and the react-time of its touch ID is almost identical to that of the iPad Pro.

I doubt iPad Pro is using the 1st gen touch ID... Even if it is using 1st gen touch ID, it is actually almost as fast as the 2nd gen touch ID on iPad Pro...

Apple enjoys selling expensive products but gives them cheaper features especially in iPads. The iPad pro is the most expensive device yet it has first generation Touch ID, unimpressive cameras, and the same screen as previous Retina display iPads. The only upgrade was a larger screen with stylus support and better sound. You cannot tell a difference between speed of iPad Air 2 vs iPad pro even if the pro has the better specs.
