For anyone with an M1 iPad Pro there is no need to upgrade.
I am getting the new 10th Generation in pink for my daughter with a white magic keyboard
and keep my old one ....

I was just thinking the same thing. Is the 2022 12.9' iPad Pro worth the upgrade from my 2018 12.9" iPad Pro?
Have you experienced any slow downs on yours? Mine is a bullet still and its running an A12X or something like that. No glitches, stutters, or issues. I use it fairly lightly I guess, but I use a Mac for actual real work.

The more I watch Stage Manager w/ External Monitor support in action on YouTube, the more I really like it and wish my 2018 iPP 11" would get it.

Another way for someone like me with an older iPP to look at the decision: the processor in the 2022 iPP is the better of the two options for the M2 MBA, but the 12.9" iPP is $100 cheaper at that point (same 8g RAM and 256g SSD). Sure, you get full macOS on a M2 MBA, but my use case might just be satisfied with Stage Manager w/ External Monitor support. Plus, the 12.9" iPP is touchscreen, detachable, has an objectively better display, and possibly a better webcam. (Cons: the battery is worse and it has no trackpad or keyboard.) Plus, a lot of us have admitted that we use these high-powered machines for "light work" that doesn't require all that power either way. The case is even better for the 11" iPP @ only $899. At that price point (if you've got a nice monitor already, like I do) I could throw in a Magic Keyboard and Trackpad for a sweet setup at home and on-the-go. I'll let Stage Manager and External Monitor support mature a bit in iPadOS before I make this decision, but it'd def got me thinking.

Interesting to see all the people complaining about this year's iPad Pro upgrade.

Important to remember that we are still post-pandemic and manufacturing in China is still suffering. Beyond trying to get new fabrication for the upcoming whiz-bang features, Apple would also have supply chain issues if they built an IPP that had a ton of interest. Better off to wait another year to see if supply issues get any better and make next year's model a don't miss model. Meanwhile, they have a new version of iPadOS releasing and want to have at least some new hardware to showcase the capabilities.

I am still running on a 2018 last of the A-series 11" IPP with Wi-Fi & cellular. I was excited to move up to the "M" processor after passing on the M1 (even as a heavy iPad user for all types of applications I didn't think the upgrade would give me much utility). Thankfully, Apple decided to include a limited version of Stage Manager in the 2018 versions (again, probably showing that they didn't think they would be able to flood the market with a new updated version) so I can put off my upgrade for another year.

No, it is running fine. Sounds like we have similar use cases. I'd like to get the latest and greatest, but the trade in value is not worth it.

14.1" iPad
Under Display True-depth
OLED Technology...

These are the upgrades I'm waiting for and would love to see.

Why do you want the true depth to be under the display? The bezels on an iPad are essential, you have to put your fingers somewhere when you're holding the thing.

iPadOS is still a garbage OS designed for entertainment rather than work. There is nothing "Pro" about it except for Apple's bizarre way of using that word incorrectly. Without a Pro OS there is no reason for me to ever get a Pro iPad.
If you want a computer, buy a computer. There are plenty of them out there. The iPad is an oversized iPhone, it always will be and that's totally fine.
