Just curious if any iPP owners bought theirs to use as basically just a large iPad? For mainly casual use and media consumption. It's a pricey device, but that large screen looks like it would be great just to have for surfing the web, playing games and watching videos etc.
I just bought an iPad Air 2 which I use just for fun, but I must say, that 12.9 inch screen looks tempting. Playing something like The Room 3 on that would be so immersive I would imagine.
Do you think the iPad Pro would be worth it for just casual use?
You didn't need it, you wanted it. There is a difference between the twoWithin 30 seconds I knew I needed it.

I use my IPP for editing Excel spreadsheets already that I used to do on my computer when I want to be more portable. I could also see myself using Word if I had more need for text documents. I find the keyboard quite comfortable to use.Just curious if any iPP owners bought theirs to use as basically just a large iPad? For mainly casual use and media consumption. I was the same way. Totally not even interested in getting it after seeing it announced. I saw it in the store and all of a sudden something just clicked. I went home after that and looked at my iPad Air 2 and couldn't believe how small it felt. Can't imagine anything smaller than an air 2 nowI didn't pay any attention to the Pro as I didn't think I would want one that big. I was walking through Best Buy on Wed morning happened to walk by the Apple section saw the Pro for the first time. With in 30 seconds I knew I needed it. Bought one from the Apple Store that day. When I came home with it my wife said why do you need that you had an air 2? I handed her the Pro and said check it out. 2 minutes later she looked at me and said I get it! Best iPad to date IMO!
I wouldn't use the IPP for photo editing simply because I use the full Lightroom and import RAW only files on my iMac 5K. But the IPP is probably the best photo viewing device from Apple short of the iMac 5K.
iPad pro will not import RAW format?
My college is using it as a normal iPad. He seems enjoying it.Just curious if any iPP owners bought theirs to use as basically just a large iPad? For mainly casual use and media consumption. The problems lie not with the import of RAW format images but rather the processing of them. A good discussion on the subject here:

Thanks!
So...it appears if you used an IPad Pro, solely for importing RAW photos from a camera and eventual upload to iCloud, you would be able to maintain an equal photo archive as you would with OS X (since the Photos.app and I assume iCloud holds RAW as well)?
But the only problem happens when you want to edit a photo...it forever scales the photo or in some cases cannot be done at all?
It depends on the app used to edit with - check the comments in the referenced article in my post. I have been trying FilterStorm Neue and it works well on the RAW files from my Canon 70D, without scaling. It also appears that Photoshop Express works well but I've only played with it a bit.
Nice, thanks. So, using an IPad Pro in place of a Mac would work, assuming the editors work for you? If the RAW format is in the cloud, one could always use OS X later on. Does that jive?
Off topic- do you know if iCloud stores duplicates?
