Hate the sterotype of apple products and Starbucks . Seems a lot of people showing off .

Love it. Will never be seen in a Starbucks though :)

That's exactly what it is, just a bunch of people showing off. It's like the real life version of Instagram for new Apple products lol.

What other reason to go there other than to pay way too much for coffee??

The places can have a good vibe, especially when your on the road. The extra cash can be justified this way. The stores are designed, and run very well.

Hard work, I would imagine.

I like Starbucks, personally. I used to go there a lot when I was back in school because I could get away from the family and distractions, put on some headphones, and get stuff done with coffee and free internet. Maybe people thought I was being a douchebag pulling out my rMBP and stuff there, but I was genuinely trying to get work done.

Yeah. People don't realize how hard it is sometimes get done at home with more distractions in there ever been in the history of mankind. It's something more advantageous to go somewhere else like the coffee shop which is why I caught a lot of momentum and I can see a lot of people bringing this to get some temporary work done while enjoing some delicious coffee. Of course there's gonna be some douche bags out there they're just gonna buy this tablet to say hey look at me look what I bought.

It's the same reason why people in China by the latest color such as rose gold as a sign of wealth and prosperity

In this day and age, why anyone would think you're a douchebag for using an rMBP in a Starbucks is beyond me. Apple laptops are everywhere and are hardly aspirational purchases these days.

I seriously doubt there's many people who go to Starbucks to "show off" their new devices. Believe it or not, there are people (myself included) who enjoy the atmosphere and enjoy the beverages Starbucks serves. It's a great environment to go, hang out, relax, and do what you want to do (be it work, surf the net, whatever). I get that Starbucks isn't for everyone, but, to me, it's MORE pretentious to talk about How your not a pretentious Starbucks person.

The iPad Pro without a keyboard in a public place is unwieldy at best IMO. You can't hold it in the air for very long, due to the weight. You can't type on it with two thumbs while holding it up, due to the width. Which leaves putting it flat on a table facing the ceiling, at an awkward viewing angle, or laying it on your lap, or using the Smart Cover as a wedge stand, which is the least awkward I suppose, but given the size of the screen, still not the ideal viewing angle.

If we're to believe those people, it is "because of all of the distractions at home"... as if having free WiFi in a busy coffee shop is the den of solitude.

hipsters/wannabes and their Apple products at Starbucks has become cliche for a reason... because it is true. Starbucks has perfected the "atmosphere" with sights, colors, sounds that make their customers feel a certain way. They HAVE to do that, otherwise how else would the get someone to pay $8 for a double Swiss Moca Latte Cappuccino with free-range organic milk and a shot of fair-trade vanilla topped off with a kiss by a baby angel blown in at 45 degrees?

Y'know who is there for the coffee and free wifi? That one guy with the 10 yr old Dell laptop... ok, he's there just for the wifi. :)
