iPad Pro iPad Pro battery health at 96% after 9 months, is it good? What’s yours?

Looks like I’m on 96% after 112 cycles on my iPad Pro 12.9 2021. I almost never fully charge the iPad, keeping it at 20-80% charge, so not sure how it tracks the cycles. Is 4% loss after 9 months considered as a good loss?

How’s your battery? (state series and year bought)

Apps for checking your battery health are iMazing app (Mac, Windows), CoconutBattery (Mac).

The loss is more than 4%. A new iPad has 104% to 106% battery. So you have lost around 10%.
I'll give you my statistics for 2 of my devices.
2018 11 pro: bought 31/12/2020 with battery capacity at 106%. Now after 196 cycles it's at 103.4%
2015 12.9 iPad pro, battery replaced on 16/01/2021 with capacity at 104. Now after 143 cycles it's at 88.5%...
Same treatment for both, kept at around 50-90% most of the time.
Conclusion: the 11 pro battery has much better cells than the battery Apple put in the replacement unit (or maybe in the 2015 model in general) and/or the A12X treats the battery better than the A9X....

I mainly use iMazing to check the battery capacity of my IOS devices. I keep track of it periodically (once or twice a month on average)

Just to clarify, when you first checked it in iMazing it showed 106% capacity, or you added the 6% to the total?
Anyway it looks like keeping it at higher charge with more cycles gives the battery a better treatment than what I was doing.

That totally incorrect. Not every iPad starts with 104% to 106%

My 2021 12.9 M1 pro battery is only 99% after 17 charge cycles
And then down to 98.8% after 19 charge cycles

I really don't think much at all of apple batteries

Have 2 iphones in the family and both of them is down to 85% and 83% in only a year

Just because yours had over 100% does not mean everyone's does. Batteries are not a constant. I've had devices arrive at 97% and I've had devices arrive at 110%. It just depends on the battery.

My new ipad pro 12.9 battery after 2 cycles is at 98.9%. Its only a week old. Should I replace it or keep using it?
I have a 12 watt charger used by the earlier 12.9 ipad. Can I use that with my new ipad?
I mean apart from increasing the time to charge it wont do any harm to the battery as such.

Your data mean nothing. All my iPads have had over 100 when new. My mini had 106 and after 15 cycles was at 85%. Why? because I kept it plugged in for 6 months. Cycles mean nothing depending on how often you charge or how much keep it at 100% or 0%.

You just made me remember I did check the capacity this way a few weeks after I bought it, and it was sitting at 100%. I couldn’t make my iPad to generate the .log file this time around though, switched every option in Analytics on, charged it, still nothing, weird.

I have an old iPad Pro 10.5” that loses a charge over a few days while not using. 84% Find my and 16% home were the uses over the few days. I had Apple diagnostic run by Apple and they told me 261 cycles and 94% battery. Seems high to me but regardless the drainage wasn’t the battery. Well at least that’s what they said

iPad Pro 11 2021 bought when it came out May 2021 roughly - 226 cycles with battery health 87%... although it did say 90% yesterday. Is it just me or does this seems like a really rapid loss in battery capacity within 19 months? - checked with iMazing.

I don't have apple care + so I assume I have no claim for apple to do anything without paying £100 for a new battery

Mine is 96% battery health out of the box so….

EDIT : I just recharge it from 40% to 100%, now it says 95,2% with just 1 cycle. Clearly not normal isn't it? Brand new 12,9 M2 iPad Pro.

I just got my replacement and it says out of the box 98,5%. But I charged it from 92% to 100% and checked again. Maybe it shows more percentage when I charge it a full cycle?
