_If_ handwriting works well _then_ this will be high up on my wish list for x-mas.
Then I could carry ONLY this to Uni and ditch the MacBook Pro/Ipad/Pen+Paper combo :)

I was 100% sure I would buy an iPad Pro, but as long as the Smart Keyboard is available only in US layout, it's absolutely not an option.

Palm rejection, along with other touch features, is handled by iOS itself.
Support for palm rejection is indeed in iOS but it is up to app developers to utilize it. That is why some demos during the Apple keynote had the presenter's hand resting on the screen while others hovered awkwardly over it.

As an owner of a 12" Macbook, I still don't see the benefits of an iPad Pro other than the pencil. Anything else, like Office work or some Adobe photoshop, OS X is simply much better and the mouse interface is more useful than iOS and touch interfaces.
There are many applications where a keyboard and a mouse are completely useless, and not everyone needs a full-featured Photoshop or MS Office (I would claim that the vast majority of people who use Photoshop and MS Office use less than 20 percent of the features). So there are quite a few people who might prefer a device with multitouch and a detachable keyboard.

This is an intriguing device, can't wait for the inevitable smackdowns with the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 4. I wonder if the iPad would end up better with productivity apps though? Might have a play if I ever see one in a store.

Does it make a case for people who need to access the file system? Or run OS X apps?
Well that would be called the 12" Macbook. It's already available.

It doesn't serve much purpose if you already have a 12" Macbook.

1. Price.
2. Touch Screen.
3. iOS is way easier for people who aren't techies, when the iPad Air screen isn't enough.
4. More apps, cheaper apps although not always standalone ones.
5. Tim Cook thinks that the iPad is the future of computing, and he can't be more wrong, at least for the next 5 years IMO.

For me, I'll go with the MacBook 12' for sure but the iPad Pro still has its benefits.

SP4 kill this hands down.

Yep.

You just can't beat Windows 10, quite honestly. An open file system is just so necessary. I love the design and the specs it has as well.

But on the other hand, the iPad Pro has a sick screen. It's great for movies and media consumption, but not necessarily for productivity, because it has iOS.

Yes, I use Adobe - mainly Photoshop. Does it run on this giant iPad?
That's why I'm getting the new Surface Book...

Nope. Because it has iOS.

You can have full Photoshop running on the SP4, and tons of other programs that will never be on iOS.

"If you see a stylus, they blew it."

Steve Jobs

Just had to get that out of the way.

The iPad Pro looks amazing. I won't buy the keyboard or stylus, though; that's not what an iPad is for. The wifi version is 0.01lbs lighter than the original cellular iPad; pretty amazing, considering that the screen is 3 inches bigger.

Now, they just need a 17" version that runs OS X to replace the MacBook Pro.
