Let me put it into perspective hey people are reacting the way they are.

Apple stuck with 1GB RAM right up,to the point where 1GB RAM was unbearable. I have an iPad 4 that I got in 2012, and iOS update after iOS update had the device go from amazing in iOS 6 to rather annoying in iOS 9, Safar I Windows hardly staying in memory, slowdowns etc... The iPhone 6 Plus also suffers from the lowly 1GB RAM.

With Apple sticking with 2GB RAM on a 2016 tablet, that means that tablet will get outdated quicker than its predecessor, can you imagine how much more functionality is coming to iOS, especially the Pro devices?

This is almost the same situation as when Apple made the Air after the iPad 4, but this time the Air 2 and Pro 9.7 are the same size and weight, there really is not much distinguishing them apart.

Many smartphones today come with 4gb of RAM. Low end smartphones come with 2gb of RAM and here we are paying a premium price for a tablet 3 times the size of a smartphone with less RAM. 2GB of RAM more would make more Apple users happy and feel that they paid $1K for a tablet and at least got some premium specs with it. What they could have done also is maybe done what Xiamoi did where they offered more RAM on their higher end models. maybe those buying the 32gb who were price conscious getting 2GB of RAM and those willing to fork out more to buy the 128GB model or 256GB model to get 4GB of RAM.

Apple could not put another device with 4 gig in the line up, that would mean develop for 4 gig instead of 2 gig, that would shorten the lifespan of the entire line up too soon, the next iphone 7(pro) is the trend setter on this matter, if it jump to 4 gigs then 2 gig will be obsolete and doomed with issues due to new functionalities and intensive tasks on newer iOS releases, but as far as it seems we are having a new strategy to spike the price up with rebranding the line with the 'pro' label on new incremental releases, nevertheless , pro means, power user, pro means more ram otherwise is not multitasking friendly, there is a crash smell in the air ...

Should the iPad Pro 9.7 have been called the iPad Air 3?

If comparing the iPad Pro 9.7 to the Air 2 then the notable improvements are the following:
+ Better Camera
+ Better Speakers
+ Better Chip
- Same Weight/Dimensions/Resolution
- USB 2 (NOT USB 3 like 12.9 Pro)
- 2GB RAM (NOT 4GB like 12.9 Pro)
- Smart Connector
- Pencil Support

The reason I put "Smart Connector" and "Pencil Support" on the negative list is because, while these are neat, they are also require PURCHASING ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES. So these aren't "Features", these are an Apple Revenue Stream.

So in the end then what exactly is the iPad Pro 9.7? Is it really a smaller version of the iPad Pro or is it simply an evolution of the iPad Air... +$100.

Why is "Same Weight/Dimensions/Resolution" a negative? Many people fear before the release that it might be thicker and heavier. So that is not the case which I will count as positive....
