I’m glad I didn’t hit order when they launched. Although I think they look really cool, seem to add some functionality as far as typing angle goes, and of course the trackpad and real keyboard are great, but having it be so heavy is negative. I think I could simply pack my Magic Trackpad 2 to accompany me when traveling with my keyboard folio, and it would not only save some weight, but save me $350 too.

Trackpad 2 is actually quite heavy at 231g

MK on both size is only heavier by 72g (2.53 oz) compared to SFK + Trackpad 2 combo

12.9” : 710 - ( 407 + 231 ) = 72g
11” : 600 - ( 297 + 231 ) = 72g

But then yes you have an option to leave the trackpad behind and save weight.

Would be nice if there’s a mini version of it thou, half the size. Trackpad 2 Mini 🧐

I just cancelled my order and will keep my 20$ foldable BT keyboard a little longer. The use cases for the Magic keyboard and my use patterns don’t match up and the weight is a big concern for me

I got my MagicKeyboard for my 11” today. First impressions are very good. Build quality is like what you expect from an Apple product. The Materials are the same like the Keyboard Folios of the past.
For my use case it seems to work perfect: I answer a lot of Mails on the go, so a good Keyboard is key. Also I use GoodNotes a lot for making notes in meetings. In this case I can lay the iPad on the closed MagicKeyboard, or, but this is not my preferred use case, lay it on the table without any case. I will get a skin to protect the iPad somehow, but probably I will just use the MKB under the iPad most of the times. It works good for me.
In the case that I am not ”working” with my iPad I also have the normal Folio and the standard Keyboard Folio I can use.
Regarding the weight and the thickness: I find it not to thick (of course it could be a litte thinner), the iPad now feels really stable when carrying around, I like it.

Agreed that the MTP2 is heavy - that battery in it definitely makes for a stout device. I’ve actually been using my old Apple Keyboard (BT) with the iPad and trackpad 2 (on a stand I made for my desk), and I do prefer the better keyboard action, compared to the keyboard folio.

I’m guessing that I’ll end up getting the new MK, just to simplify things once I’m back on the road again, but I do wish there were other better options.
