I'd love to be wrong, but I think people expecting the iPad Air 3 to be leaps and bounds ahead of the Air 2 are going to be very disappointed. I'm expecting a slightly slimmer device with a faster chip, faster Touch ID, and a smart connector.

I'll compare my iPad 1 to the Air 3/4 when they're released

Wow.

That's terribly disappointing. I tend to try products out & return it. Latest Apple product I returned was the Magic Keyboard... Simply told them it wasn't for me.

Returned the Apple Watch as well. I wonder why is that a policy in Spain?
Wait. What do you mean?

I really don't think the iPad Air 3 will have a 4K display.... I can believe that it'll be marketed as being able to play 4K content with a higher resolution screen (not necessarily 4K), but the increase in computing power to play 4K (literally 4 times the number of pixels) would easily shortchange the battery life on the iPad.

Unless Apple made a recent breakthrough with battery density, CPU efficiency and OLED, I don't see that happening.

4K display is very unlikely, but 3112x2334 or maybe a downscaled version of it, similar to Plus iPhones, is possible.

Apple could also increase the thickness slightly for more battery, as they did with the first retina iPad.

I just don't see apple making ipad air 3 with a 4k display. It will make minimal difference because it's already hard enough/impossible to see the pixels, not the mention having a 4k display will effect battery life and the overall performance.

Apple can't magically make a 4k display without compromise.

I personally think the iPad air 3 will have 3d touch, 4GB of ram, 4 speakers, new chip set and that will be it. Overall it won't be a revolutionary device but a decent upgrade from the air/air 2.

I think most of the changes will be in software.
[doublepost=1454826322][/doublepost]Either way I just ordered my iPad pro :) with the hope ios 10 will bring most of the features I want.

The bigger screen will be awesome for me and the pencil great for marking up my structural plans etc and note taking in meetings.

Seems to me we are almost back at the same decision tree as when the mini went retina and the iPad Air first came out at about the same time. I was convinced I was going to get a Mini retina until I held the iPad Air. At that point the weight difference was negligible enough that it came down to only screen size.
Don't think it was ever about weight. Everything is light enough now compared to a traditional laptop.

It's about size.

It definitely was about weight when you compared an iPad 4 to the first iPad Air. I had no plans to get a larger iPad because of the weight compared to mini. The Air was a game changer in that respect and pulled me away from my sure plan to get a retina mini. That was my point, the Air made it only about size.

If the pro was a huge beast I would have had to think twice. But it's weight relative to size is very well balanced.

And a smaller version of the new digitiser - that was on a larger device that has already over 2 million units sold - so that a Bluetooth accessory can work with it.

To be frank, other than Smart Connector and Apple Pencil, I can't foresee any "surprise". Eh, perhaps raising the pixel density to the Mini 4's level (i.e. 1280*960 @2x, 329 ppi)?
