It doesn't look like iPad Air 3 will be coming in the spring. There has been zero leaks about specs and features. For comparison we are hearing substantial rumors about A10 chip being used in iPhone 7.
Exactly my thoughts as well. I'm expecting a new design because that would make the iPad Air 2 design two years old at that point. It doesn't look like iPad Air 3 will be coming in the spring. If that was the case, I think we almost certainly would have seen it in September. Why wait a year and a half to two years to announce a minor upgrade? The Air 3 will have a complete design overhaul, guaranteed.... or maybe the Air 3 will be a minor upgrade from the Air 2 (like the Mini 3 was over the Mini 2)
Perhaps it will have the same stereo speakers as the iPad Pro?If that was the case, I think we almost certainly would have seen it in September. Why wait a year and a half to two years to announce a minor upgrade? The Air 3 will have a complete design overhaul, guaranteed.
It would need to have that at a minimum for me to want to upgrade from my Air 2.Perhaps it will have the same stereo speakers as the iPad Pro?
It may have four speakers, but it won't have the kind of room to resonate that the iPad Pro has. Look at this photo of the internals of the iPad Pro... If you were to put all the speaker enclosures in an iPad Air it would take up the whole casePerhaps it will have the same stereo speakers as the iPad Pro?
That's my problem. I have an Air 2 I want to trade in at BestBuy to put towards the Pro. If I do that, I'll be stuck with a Pro. I can't imagine not liking it though.Just order the iPad Pro and try it out. You can always return it if it doesn't meet your needs and that way you won't be sorry. That's what I'm going to do anyway. Just don't get rid of your current iPad until you are absolutely sure.

Thats not true. My dad is still rocking his iPad 2No prior iPad has had a shelf life longer than 12 months as top model so there is no precedent to compare it to. Price depreciation is a very common thing for third party retailers to do. Here in UK, items often get price reductions, even if they are the latest model. Such is the way that competition works in retail. Especially as black Friday and Christmas approaches. It's common to see big sales at this time of the year.
I think you misinterpreted my post. I was saying that no iPad prior to the Air 2 has been on sale, as the flagship model, for more than 12 months. They've all been replaced after 12 months. Air 2 is going for longer than 12 months as the most advanced 9.7" iPad.Thats not true. My dad is still rocking his iPad 2
Bear in mind that the Pro is essentially already obsolete as it doesn't feature 3D touch, something that is pretty much guaranteed to feature in the next wave of iPads (in my opinion obviously as there is no proof of this)
Lacking that one feature, even if it is a rather obvious omission, doesn't make the whole product obsolete. That's like saying that all Macbooks are obsolete for lacking a touchscreen or some form of hybrid functionality.
Bit dramatic ... we've been using computers for 35 years with mice and trackpads and now force touch makes them obsolete? I don't think so. No app even remotely relies on force touch right now.Not really a good comparison as no MacBook features such functionality. It's more like buying the 15" MacBook Pro without a force touch trackpad when the 13" has the force touch trackpad. You know it's going to feature on the 15" so you would have been buying an obsolete model (at the time)

Well that is the nature of all things tech. Frankly I think they sort of needed that extra oomph in this release. I'm buying this first release based on Apple brand loyalty alone, but I fully expect to be unimpressed.Perhaps obsolete is too strong a word. Outdated is probably better, but the main point still stands. If you buy this first gen iPad Pro you know at least one feature that will come in gen 2

You should wait for Pro 2, and then decide between it and the Air 4.I just want to hear how others feel on whether they will buy the Pro or wait for the Air 3.
