Great hardware, terrible iOS. It's almost like apple doesn't understand users' needs. A ferarri with $100 tires. A concord jet plane with 1/4" tank capacity. A motorcycle that has 85mpg but gas distance of 50 miles.

When will apple get that you cannot fit a square peg in a round hole and look great doing it? Anyone who buys this has too much disposable income and in its current iOS 9 form a complete waste of hardware.

None of these reviewers dare offend Apple by saying the iPad pro sucks. It's so biased these reviews just call it out for what it is! An oversized iPad air! iOS really shouldn't be used in any other form than on a smartphone.

I agree with so much of that lol. How do we kick start iPad sales? Make an even bigger, more expensive model!!!

OK

I'll buy one when:

1. It comes with a physical keyboard.
2. It's as light as my MB 12"
3. It runs OSX.
4. It has a SSD with at least 500g
5. It will run xCode.
6. It has the full OSX file system.

Until then it's a big iPad, which has a place but falls short of an OSX based system.

Notice Microsoft has distance itself from the ARM processors and put its focus into the Intel, full featured side of the fence. Apple can mock all they want, but Windows hardware is gaining ground. Now if they can just run OSX on the latest Intel Surface and Book they might really have something.

I would love to use the "Pencil" on a touchscreen OSX MB 12" or some version as light!

Although, several million people will disagree with you.

This thing is powerful, but the problem is the software. There is nothing that can take advantage of the power of the hardware. So even though this is more powerful than a MB/MBA/MBP, it won't be as useful because of iOS and the lack of pro software which will hold it back from really replacing a traditional computer.

These charts seem more useful:

Also, the Onscreen GFXBench tests also seem more useful than the Offscreen ones shown in the article above. I care more about rendering in it's native resolution than rendering in 1080.

What the actual F***

Those numbers are insane for an Arm Chip

Or... maybe they don't say the iPad Pro sucks because they simply think it doesn't suck? People are allowed to hold opinions other than yours.

There's no doubt this is the most impressive tablet anyone has ever built. Performance is staggering and all the reviews I've read are hugely positive.

If you want the best possible tablet experience, there is no doubt iPad Pro is the device you quite simply must own.
Then you seem to have missed a lot of reviews.

Speak about its good points of course but for Tim to refer to a competitor product like that shows a lack of class.

I think it speaks more to the death of the MacBook than it does the surge of the iPad.

Also, how is it that a MacBook Air, which from my impressions is intended to be a lighter-use notebook, outperforms the same generation MacBook (not Air)?

Next we'll be hearing how a #2 pencil has outperformed the new MacMini.

Well the Macbook Air is lighter-use from the Macbook Pro, so the MacBook is lighter-use of the MacBook Air.
Macbook < MacBook Air < MacBook Pro

The pricing however is a issue that should fix itself in a few years. The MacBook Air was overpriced as well in the beginning.

As far as the iPad Pro killing off the MacBook, probably not. Believe it or not, there are people who prefer iOS over OS X (my mom think OS X is confusing to her even though the icons are very similar)

Surface Book is deluded? Tim, you'd sell a lot more of these iPad Pros if users were able to run OS X on it and pair a mouse with it. Better yet, let the iPad Pro run OS X and also run iOS apps. Best of both worlds, but then Apple would probably charge $1,299 minimum for it.

And I would pay it...

But I wonder if he actually said diluted, and they misquoted him.

And I'd be tempted to pay for that.

So, playing games in iPad Pro is faster than a MacBook Pro?
I give it two/three more years to apple to start rolling out MacBooks with ARM chips

For sure, no doubt in my mind that's in the works. Gotta be frustrating for Apple having their plans being limited by Intel's roadmap and delays.

Apple has a first class asic design team in-house. Will be great seeing what develops in the future.

Apple sells those. They're called MacBooks. Different products for different wants/needs. But there are millions of Apple customers (a tiny percentage of all) with needs nothing like your's.

Whilst this does look great, and I would like an iPad Pro.
I fear this says more about the lack of performance of a PROPER Laptop from Apple than how fast the tablet is.

Are these taking into account the fact the Laptop has to run a full proper OS?

Is this comparing Apple's! to Oranges. Should not BOTH devices be running the same operating system to be able to compare them?

Would the iPad Pro grind to a halt if it had to run OSX?
These are the things I'd like to know.

I can't see them doing that personally, because a lot of people run Boot Camp and rely on Intel chips to perform those tasks. If Apple moved back, I'm sure Mac sales would take a dive. I know I wouldn't buy one if it didn't have an Intel chip.

That's a good point. If we could compare the two running the exact same OS, it would provide a much more fair comparison.

If they put OS X on this iPad pro hardware,it will be a gimped macbook air. They need to design the lightweight iOS and combine it with a full OS X sans hardware requirements.

Otherwise this is too powerful iPad air, a gimped macbook air, and a too expensive apple product yet again!

No they probably wouldn't. Apple still sells lots more iPads than Macs. Face it. As much as I like the Mac, OS X is a niche and always will be. It is better for Apple to build up iOS since that is where the vast majority of its revenue comes from. Creating a Windows 8-style OS X would be a disaster and Tim Cook knows it. An Intel iPad Pro would either have poor battery life or be gimped with a Core M or an ARM trying to support older software in emulation.
