I hope the ipad pro air 3 doesn't have a higher res screen. If developers are optimising for the ipp 12" screen, then using a similar resolution on the smaller 9.7" screen may be uncomfortable to use. Keep the same resolution it currently has, so it is in proportion to the larger ipp - bigger screen = more real estate not just bigger pixels.

That could also allow them to use a slightly lower clocked CPU as it wouldn't be pushing as many pixels, which would also help the battery life.

I am quite perplexed on what to do. Sold the iPad Air 32gb wifi/LTE with slightly cracked screen for $170 tonight. Only to find out they pushed back the event.

Now what iPad to buy. My personal opinion is the 9.7 is the sweet spot for Apple. The 12.9 Pro was never meant for the average consumer more geared toward enterprise. The mini is nice for portability but that's why I have a bigger iPhone 6s Plus for though.

The Pencil is not a deal breaker for me, however screen resolution is. If the 9.7 Pro is worse than the 12.9 Pro, then I might go for the larger version as this is strictly for family entertainment device. Can anyone confirm the rumor that the new iPad Pro 9.7 was going 4K for the screen? If so, this will be the choice.

While the specs are not great, the 12 inch Retina MacBook is in play as I absolutely love the design.

Guess I should just be happy that I sold an Apple device on Craigslist and lived to talk about it....

Grab a pro and try it out for 14 days? You might find you like the size

This. Apple products tend to have a few magic numbers. For the iPad, that seems to be 10 hour battery life and 264 PPI. It seems that Apple will continue to design around these constants (i.e.: they may use a smaller battery to offset a more power-efficient processor, but always strive to maintain that 10-hour threshold).
