I should have been specific, I meant Apple's own "Smart Keyboard". It seems to be impossible to find out the weight of it anywhere...
The Logitech one is 725 grams:

There are many reviews of the Smart keyboard bot no one states the weight of the smart keyboard. Either the did not really have such a keyboard and are only writing from their phantasy, or Apple has prohibited to write about the weight to give their longterm parter Logitech a headstart. That is very annoying. It can't be so difficult to find out the weight.
other then, you know, to weigh it.The weight isn't listed on any packaging for the keyboard s no real way to know.
The apple keyboard that I played with in the store yesterday was very light. I doubt it weighed half a pound. Picking up the ipad pro with the keyboard vs without did not feel substancially different. (I think in pounds and ounces, not grams, sorry).
The Logitech keyboard on the other hand weighs about as much as the iPad pro itself, the 2 together weigh about 3 lbs. I found the logitech keyboard to be a much more enjoyable typing expereince and it provides a full protective case for the ipad. The apple keyboard (when folded down) covers the screen but not the back of the iPad.
The apple keyboard is so thin it felt like it could be easily damaged in a bag with a bunch of stuff rattling around in it. The logitech keyboard has a metal frame and is incased in a sturdy canvas shell.
Getting the ipad in and out of the logitech case is a littel more combersom then I would like. At some point when there are more options available I will proabbly get a lightweigh non keyboard case for when I do not need to work on my ipad pro but want it for entertainment.
For a fuctioning keybaord I much perefered the logitech option to the apple option for protection and typing expereince.

Couldn't agree more regarding the Logitech case. I really liked the Logitech keyboard, but it was way to heavy and every time I inserted or removed the Ipad from it, I was always nervous I was going to break it. I returned it yesterday and got the smart cover and silicon case. I have to say I absolutely love the 2 together. (Though the price is outrageous) I have an Apple Keyboard on order and it should be here in a few more days. Once I receive it, I will be returning the Smart cover.
Just wondering. Can you return the SmartCover after waiting for the Apple Keyboard? Where did you get your cover? How far out is your keyboard? I'll probably keep both for times I don't want the keyboard.

Yeah, the price for the back case + Smart Cover is outrageous. I was wondering whether the iPP is comfortable to hold with just the Smart Cover and no back case? Thinking of picking an iPP to try, but not sure if I should pick up a back case or not.
yes it might be heavier to transport around but at that point, 0.5lbs vs 1 lbs is really not going to matter for most people.
Since there are numerous keyboard options for the iPad Pro, I think question should be phrased differently:
Under what weight must an iPad Pro keyboard be in order for the whole package to weigh less than a Retina Macbook?
The answer is 0.46lbs / 207g. If an iPad Pro keyboard weighs more than this, the whole package will be heaver than the Retina Macbook.
Retina Macbook - 2.03lbs / 920g.
iPad Pro - 1.57lbs / 713g.
----------------------------------------------
Difference - 0.46lbs / 207g.
EDIT:
While I'm at it, same question as to thickness:
Under what thickness must an iPad Pro keyboard be in order for the whole package to be thinner than a Retina Macbook?
The answer is 0.25in / 6.2g.
Retina Macbook - 0.52in / 13.1mm.
iPad Pro - 0.27in / 6.9mm.
----------------------------------------------
Difference - 0.25in / 6.2mm.
So for the keyboard/iPP package to be thinner and lighter than a Retina Macbook, the keyboard must weigh under 0.46lbs / 207g and must be less than 0.25in / 6.2mm thick.
I have it resting on my lap with the keyboard, I don't feel any weight at all really and it isn't uncomfortable.
It's not like I have to worry about any weight restrictions going through customs at the border or whatever.
Geez, just pick one up folks and decide for yourselves but I'm telling you the weight is negligible on my lap. I admit with typing the keyboard is a bit wobbly but no red flag really.
I doubt it weighs as much as a 13" rMBP.

hold on guys i am weighing the keyboard for you guys
just apple smart keyboard It's 11.9oz, 337 grams
Apple smart keyboard with ipp 37.3 oz, 1057 grams
i have since Wednesday 11/11 got used to it, using it most of the time and weight is not an issue for me
people who are not buying it because of its weight and size dont worry about it. You will like this device and most probably you will stop using previous versions of ipad. I am little reluctant now to use ipad air 2
