iPad Pro With OLED Display Rumored for Launch in 2024

Apple can be expected to announce 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with OLED displays in 2024, according to display analyst Ross Young.

In a tweet, Young said both models of the iPad Pro will come with OLED displays in the early half of 2024. The new M2 iPad Pro models announced yesterday include no display changes, including the lack of a mini-LED display on the smaller 11-inch model. Apple introduced a mini-LED display on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in April 2021, and despite rumors it would also come to the 11-inch size, that did not happen.

Compared to mini-LED technology, the OLED displays Apple is reportedly planning to use will include a two-stack tandem structure, in which there are two red, green, and blue emission layers, allowing for increased brightness. OLED displays are also more power efficient, which could help extend battery life.

Ipad 12.9 is already £1249 in the UK for the base spec, adding OLED is going to bump it up even more. That is a lot of money for something where the OS is still too limiting to be a laptop replacement so is essentially still just a tablet.

my 2018 12.9” is great, but I definitely want to upgrade. hoping for a 14” in 2023. idc about OLED over mini LED.

My god, how do I become an Apple analyst/rumour spreader?

- Guys! I’ve just heard that Apple will update the iMac in 2023 or 2024.

- Also, I’ve seen schematics of the Mac Pro, *checks notes*, it will be the fastest and most powerful yet.

- Apple has been putting a team together to work on VR/AR glasses. They will be released at some point in the future and Apple will employ a sales technique where it asks you for money and in return gives you one product.

I would upgrade to an OLED screen if it were bright enough. It would have to at least match the HDR brightness of the current iPad Pros at 1000 nits, peak 1600 nits. Otherwise, I'm sticking with my mini-LED version.

Actually it isn't, but it's getting close. The problem with OLED is brightness, or rather a lack of it. That is why Apple went mini-LED. If you look at the tablets or laptops that use OLED now with retina quality, they tend to top out at 400 nits, way too dim for Apple's requirements.

The problem with OLEDs that would meet Apple's brightness and pixel density requirements have a tendency to wrinkle. They are looking to Samsung and LG to perfect a different OLED technology that doesn't have that drawback. Until that happens, Apple's sticking with mini-LED. Note Samsung's own OLED tablets are very dim.

Well, this is clearly why Apple doesn’t care to update the iPad Pro 11” screen tech right now. I’d buy an OLED iPP 11” in a hot minute.

I am still holding on my 2018 11 inch iPad Pro. But its battery charge doesn't hold as well as before. Hoping it will last until the OLED iPad is here.

My sentiments exactly. Got a 2018 12.9 iPad Pro and gonna hang onto it for a bit longer. Not impressed at all. Maybe if they added landscape cam but for now I'm fine.
