Not sure why that is taking forever! Is not that OLED display tech is not matured enough or something.
The thing Apple needs are much denser pixel displays/2 layers deep/in a much larger sizes. Apple also needs to convince the burnin crowd, it not a thing anymore. So we’re not quite there yet…

Keeping my 11" Pro -18. I think that the performance has long time passed the capabilities of iPadOS.Prices for a new iPad Pro tells me to buy Macbook air instead. Merging iPad OS into MacOS (Surface Pro ;))

That’s the one I will probably get. No need to update my M1 version to M2. Even 2018 and 2020 models should still be good.
No need to upgrade if you already have the M1. However, having the 2018, the 4GB of RAM are starting to constrain a bit my usage, with lots of reloads on the apps. I would much welcome the 8GB of DDR5 of the M2.

If I recall, the translucent iMacs still ran os9. But maybe I'm confusing myself with what we had running on our Performa 550 that we bought at Sears. (the glory days of Gil)
G3 iMacs started with Mac OS 8.1.
Mine shipped with 8.6 but could go all the way up to Tiger.
Later models shipped with OS9 first and adopted dual-booting OOTB for the latest revisions.

Apple should have released a hybrid version of MacOs and iPadOs for pro iPads. Then it would have been a replacement for MacBook Air or even 13" MBP. I was thinking about buying a iPad pro instead of Macbook but limitations in iPasOs forced me to purchase MBP.

Can we please get an iPad mini with no jelly?
Your using it wrong. It’s a feature, just add the optional peanut butter.

My god, how do I become an Apple analyst/rumour spreader?

- Guys! I’ve just heard that Apple will update the iMac in 2023 or 2024.

- Also, I’ve seen schematics of the Mac Pro, *checks notes*, it will be the fastest and most powerful yet.

- Apple has been putting a team together to work on VR/AR glasses. They will be released at some point in the future and Apple will employ a sales technique where it asks you for money and in return gives you one product.

The trick seems to be starting a newsletter, or posting on Chinese language forums.

I guess Apple has been having trouble developing OLED on larger displays to their standards. I'm guessing since OLED is coming for iPads, it won't be long until we see OLED MBPs as well.

Damn. You're good! You speak the truth! Thank you for all the wonderful information :) LOL!

its so refreshing to see so many people hanging onto their "old" apple gear for so long and shunning the new stuff.
It seems apple were correct when they said they were designing their new gear with the environment in mind.

I switched from the excellent 12.9" 2018 to the 12.9" 2020 that I could buy very cheap shortly after the M1 2021 was released. But my eyes could not get comfortable with the low-contrast 12.9" 2020 display compared to the 12.9" 2018. So I had to switch again to the 12.9" M1 with a very sharp, high-contrast, comfortable and extremely color-accurate display. Let see if they can provide this quality with OLED. My purpose isn't watching movies or gaming in total darkness.

By the time we get to 2024,,,oled will be replaced by something else and we will be on the next better thing..I think they are a few steps behind on screen display..and will prob have a xdr oled or macbook pro oled..but too late..or prob cheaper for apple to produce the oled screens for the products down the road.
