Older en iPads; 9.7”, 10.5”, 12.9” had the exact same bending propensity, I have older iPad Pros that are bent to prove that this is normal for 6-7mm thick devices that are 8x11" or 6x8 long or wide, plus... science. 😉

Any metal device will bend under enough stress. However, the new models’ metal is thinner and the structural design inferior to prior models. I know it’s cringe-worthy, but here is someone dropping a 10.5 next to an 11 for direct comparison:
I returned an 11” because it felt very flimsy compared to prior iPads and bought a 10.5”. I have owned 10 other iPad models and all were solid, well made products.
