And Huawei have just released the Mediapad M5 range.Interesting, going to be interesting to see what they do with that then. other than that, the market in android space has been very quiet.
Windows though – in 2018?IDK the surface is still the better all around tablet
Apple sells twice as many iPads as Macs
Its not that they are failing to get attention. Its that everyone that wants one already has one. There is no compelling reason to buy a new one at a cycle of phones.
^^^^I expect them to do the bare minimum to keep the line going - my kids iPad minis are due for a replacement but Apple doesn't want my money apparently.Still a steep decline from peak. It's in recovery mode, which is good, but Apple really needs to start putting its money where Cook and Schiller's mouth is and do for iPad what Final Cut, Aperture, iWorks, iLife did for the Mac back in the early 00's: make some inexpensive, outstanding apps to showcase it as a laptop alternative.
Right now there are fantastic iPad apps out there, but at a cost -- esp. when it comes to office apps. Apple's own (what use to be) iWorks suite for iPad, esp. Pages is so basic and useless it just gives fodder to those that say the iPad is a toy. A high school student couldn't even right a proper research paper with Pages. And when it comes to photo and video editing iMovie and Photos are really also-rans. Apple needs to step up here. Software is what sells hardware.
Unfortunately yesWindows though – in 2018?![]()
I usually prefer a "real computer" as well. But there are some scenarios a tablet is perfectly suited for. Displaying and annotating sheet music for example: https://forscore.coWhat are people actually using these for? I’ve owned a bunch of iPads before and never actually found much use for them besides games and media consumption, which I can do on a big screen phone just as well. My kid likes his since he’s too young to have a phone, but other than that I can’t really see any use case for it that wouldn’t be better served by a real computer.
My Air 2 is still as fast and smooth as day one too, but to be completely honest, after having played around with the 10.5” iPP, my Air 2 feels a bit small. That slightly bigger screen ruined my experience with the Air 2. So now I’m just waiting for WWDC. I’m super excited about that rumored nearly full screen iPP.My Air 2 is still rocking after 3 years of ownership.

As my old iMac video card died, yet again, so the card needs another trip to the oven, my iPad Pro is currently my home computer. I use it about five hours a day, with work 2in 1 laptop the rest (only use touch there for scrolling or occasional zooming, desktop functions mostly attached to a large monitor). Consumption yes, but also emails, editing docs etc. What are people actually using these for? A better smart connect keyboard for the iPad with trackpad, and it’s game over for most chrome books or windows pc’s for the average consumer.These.
Phone, PCs, and tablets are flat market items now. Most people (visitors of this board aside) do not need to rush out and replace their existing tech every 2-3 years (saw article where phone cycles are stretching out to 2yrs vs. 18 months on average: upgrade program effects?). Their stuff is good enough for what they want/need.
But with that, I am still relatively impressed in that Apple does sell 2x iPads vs Macs. And the iPad sales is almost as many units as Dell PCs for same quarter (HP tops out at 13+ million units).

Agreed. Thing is, if it did care, imagine how many more macs would have been sold. The neglect must be some sort of corporate weenie internal battle.lmfao According to Apple's financial reports, Mac OS finally cracked double digits to a whopping 10% after 35 years. While MacMinis are still being sold at 2018 prices with, what-- 5 year old tech? MacBook Pro is not much better. A $5000 iMac Pro? Seems like Apple doesn't give a crap about Operating Systems beyond iOS for iPhone.
So, yes, Windows in 2018 is actually a big thing. Mac? Not so much.
